It's easy to say you're compassionate when you don't have to do shit.

Alabama had some catastrophic tornadoes. Minutes after it hit, guys got in pickups with chainsaws and headed to the trouble. Nobody paid them, and they worked till they dropped.

Why? Because it's easier to show compassion when you do something about it.

Part of the issue is whether or not the places hit by the natural disastors have the resources to take care of their people. Many western nations do.
