a six figure salary for an organization with 350 affiliated stations doesn't sound that unreasonable to me.

Compared to the CEO of Cigna, who got a $106,000,000 severance package.

Or the CEO of GM, who got a $12,000,000 salary right before he needed the government to bail out his company.

That said, I think PBS should forgo government spending and just rely on contributions.

But don't be surprised when the first thing they cut are those stations in the Red States where the Commercial Networks don't even bother.

So, what is the benefit of Broadcasting PBS in a rural community? It's to provide the young rednecks educational program so they learn how to read. It really doesn't matter who gets the money for doing that, it's the benefit of it getting done.

But... even IF your argument is true... even IF there are these backwoods places that have no access to TV or radio... we can target those unusually rare areas and get rid of all the rest, saving billions of dollars.
