Putin planning to buy US weapons Joe Biden left behind in Afghanistan

Great work, Joe!

Billions of dollars worth of U.S. weapons are on the negotiating table between Russian strongman Vladimir Putin and Afghanistan’s Taliban government, according to at least one insider.

Presidentish Joe Biden’s bungled bugout from Afghanistan resulted in a windfall for the new radical Islamic government, including artillery, attack helicopters, and thousands of HUMVEES, machine guns, radios — all left behind as our orderly withdrawal degenerated into a rout.

The Department of Defense estimates the total value of the gear Biden left behind at a whopping $7.12 billion, and now Putin is reportedly offering to buy whatever he and the battered Russian Army need.

According to The Sun, a report on Telelgram (a social media platform popular with Russian milbloggers) claims:
Lets go, Brandon!

Putin sound desperate and the Taliban sounds broke.

"We provided the Afghan military with equipment and aircraft and the skills to use them. Over the years,"

We did that, not President Biden. The 20 year experiment in Afghan Nation building was a failure.

Unless of course you're claiming our military left their equipment behind and didn't disable it like the testified to under oath.

You come to think of it, I believe Vietnam sold spare parts to Iran for a time after the Shah died.
The taxpayer gets stiffed, and we end up spending more on defense to keep a technological edge. With the corrupte political structure, the DOD and the military/industrial complex with its demands we have to be careful in this modern high-tech age. So much waste!

Afghanistan was the most successful evacuation of a defeated army in the history of world warfare.

It's another matter that the US left equipment and weapons behind for the country's army that was quickly defeated by the Taliban.

And then, to make matters worse for US credibility, the US formed an alliance with the Taliban, which was supposedly going to fight ISIS.

So much for the little girls not going to school! Some suggest that never was the US agenda.

And now America's supposed allies are gladly ready to sell to Russia.
The problem with your statement was that we were not a "defeated" army. Trump turned a pacified country over to its own people and developed a plan to bring our troops home. Biden scuttled the plan, allowed the Taliban to run rampant and defeat the local forces while pulling our forces out in the most disorganized manner possible.

Why didn't Trump enforce the conditions of that plan on the Taliban before reducing our troop strength from nearly 13,000 to the bare minimum of 2,500 before he left office? Weren't those the very troops we needed to enforce the conditions and our leverage in the negotiations. The original reduction to 8,600 troops happened just 135 days after the Doha Accords were signed. The further reductions happened in the fall and after the Nov. election That all happened to the plan, before Biden took office. By doing that Trump left the Taliban in a superior position and the US would have to redeploy tens of thousand of soldiers to enforce those conditions Trump purposefully ignored. He wanted the US military to be put in a no win situation with a Democrat in charge so their friends in the press could have a field day. And they did....................

Because the Taliban was completely non-operational. They weren't making any trouble because Trump had made it clear if they didn't comply with the agreement, he wouldn't either and would start killing them all over again. With no Taliban terrorists to fight, the US didn't need anything except enough troops to guard important locations. So he drew down our troop strength. What would you expect to be done? Have all 13,000 troops line up on the last day and board transports for home? Trump intended to win the election, so he was setting things up for his second administration to finish, not to make democrats fail.

Non-operational? They were still at war with our allies the Afghan Army and routinely attacked the Afghan Government buildings and employees. With no Americans to fight because of the truce at first and then because we withdrew 80% of our force, they were able to concentrate on the Army and Government in the fight for control. You don't understand the issue. We were not suppose to withdraw unless the Taliban began honoring the conditions of the conditional withdrawal. Which was peace talks with the Government. They never started. That's not what I would have expected from a conditional withdrawal. Shortly after his election loss was announced, on Nov. 11 he sent a signed order to remove all troops from Afghanistan by Jan 15th. 2021, but after further discussion with the military he flip-flopped and ordered the final reduction to 2,500 troops. No logistical plan for meeting the May 1st deadline, and limited cooperation from the departing administration he certainly didn't set up the next CiC for success.

Biden ran like a bitch and people got killed because of his ineptitude.
So, once he made the decision, then of course, from a military perspective, in terms of the retrograde of the people and the equipment, that planning was done by Central Command, and certainly principally, by General Miller. Very detailed planning, and then we came back and briefed the entire interagency on the details of that plan.

Senator Warren: (02:03:03)
Okay. So the military planned the evacuation. Did President Biden follow your advice on executing on the evacuation plan?

Sec. Austin: (02:03:12)
He did.

Senator Warren: (02:03:15)
Did President Biden give you all the resources that you needed?

Sec. Austin: (02:03:21)
From my view, he did.

Senator Warren: (02:03:22)
Did President Biden ignore your advice on the evacuation at he point?

Sec. Austin: (02:03:30)
No Senator, he did not.

Senator Warren: (02:03:32)
Did he refuse any request for anything that you needed or asked for?

Sec. Austin: (02:03:37)
No.

Senator Warren: (02:03:38)
So the President followed the advice of his military advisors in planning and executing this withdrawal. As we’ve already established, the seeds for our, or in Afghanistan were planted many, many years ago. So let me ask you one more question, Secretary Austin, knowing what you know now, if we had stayed in Afghanistan for another year, would it have made a fundamental difference?

Sec. Austin: (02:04:05)
Again, it depends on what size you remain in at, and what your objectives are. There are a range of possibilities, but if you stayed there at a forced posture of 2,500, certainly you’d be in a fight with the Taliban, and you’d have to reinforce yourself.
