Qst. for the gun-lovers among us.....

A mass shooting nowadays is when somebody pulls out a squirt gun and three people get wet.

WOW, what a "charming" and erudite response.....You must now rest after taxing your brain so much.

I have heard the term "mass shooting" is defined as a shooting where there are multiple victims. I have also heard it defined as 4 or more victims to be defined as a mass shooting. Multiple victims could be two. Do they count these drive by shootings by these gangs in the inner cities as mass shootings? Is it fair to count them in the statistics? What we hear from the media is that there is a mass shooting daily in the US. If they do count these gang drive by shootings then I consider the count very low and what I consider a mass shooting as extremely rare.

A very comforting platitude to the families of those victims in Oregon, don't you think?

He is defining the term. Your emotion is misplaced is having a definition of discussion.

If I was armed? I'd probably gather as many people as I could in a room and stand at the door in defense. Running around looking for the shooter is a bad idea because you could be possibly identified as a hostile and shot.

Besides................you'd probably only get in the way of the SWAT. Gathering as many as you can and defending them is a much better option.
Who goes hunting for the shooter?

My point was and is that "defining" the term "mass shooting/killings" is an exercise in inanity for those families affected by the carnage

Why is that? They are the ones most affected.

OK....and this is the last response for this jerking off sideline.....

Picture yourself "comforting: the families of the victims and relating to them that, "your son or daughter was NOT really a victim of a mass shooting.....but since that term is overused, a victim of a random shooting.............Feel better, Mom, Dad ???"

During an incident at a community college (or a bar or a rock festival or a mall) there's a report of someone shooting at people and the police respond......

Now, the venue has a concealed carry ordinance and a whole bunch of other people grab their guns .........and the police SWAT team shows up......

Can you fathom WHAT THE HELL could possibly go wrong in that scenario???
I carry a concealed firearm solely for my self-defense and that of my immediate family; I am not 'law enforcement,' my primary responsibility in the event of such an incident is to get to a place of safety, out of harm's way, where my concealed firearm remains indeed concealed.

I guess the point I was attempting to make is that these mass shootings are extremely rare which is much different than the reporting from the media.

My honest advice to all you gun-toting, concealed-carry right wingers.......:

Make sure you ALWAYS wear a white hat....so that all your other gun-toting buddies will know that you're one of the good guys.....

(of course, lets hope that the maniacs out there avoid the color white.)

My advice to you is give it up. Gun grabbing is reeeling. People recognize common sense.

Yes, the CCW holder approaches the cops and identifies himself and shows his credentials. The cops then post him in a position with orders to hold and protect their backs while they continue the search for the bad guys. As they come upon further CCW holders the same thing happens. The cops are searching, the CCW holders are watching their backs.

I also CC, and I would hide too. The only scenario I see where I would shoot someone is if I was directly being shot at, OR, SAW the shooter actively shooting and I had a chance to take him/her/it out, I would. I would not go about trying to FIND the shooter. I'd cover my ass and anyone around me, that's it.

The original shooter would be dead, the CCW people would have a beer with the cops
