(CNSNews.com) - In his prepared text for a speech he is delivering today at the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference and Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, Sen. Rand Paul (R.-Ky.) said to illegal aliens who want to live and work in the United States: “[W]e will find a place for you.”

Paul also said he envisions today’s illegal aliens becoming additional “taxpayers.”

“Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers,” said Paul.

“First, everyone has to acknowledge that we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants,” said Paul. “If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you.

I believe to change #1, you would have to amend the Constitution. If you did that, how would a person become a US citizen if being born here didn't give them that? Would we all stop being citizens? Would you mandate some sort of citizenship test or service to become a citizen?

Disagree with #2 on a humanitarian basis. If you were traveling abroad in any developed country and got hurt and showed up at a hospital, you would be treated.

Agree with #3. Quit hiring illegals and they will stop coming here.

In most countries the key thing is citizenship of the parents. That makes sense and we need to do that here.

No need to amend the constitution since the 14th amendment says "The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article." Congress could clarify the meaning at any time.
