It was back in 1986. I was just tinkering around on different web sites and stumbled over some pictures of it.

The net proceeds were donated to local charities to fight hunger and homelessness and to help those in poverty.

The event raised about $15 million for charities after operating costs. It grossed $34 million, leaving a net $15 million after deducting operating costs.

Interestingly, $100 dollars was actually worth precisely $100 in 1986.

in 2022, you would have to raise $86,727,063 to fund what the 34,000,000 funded back then.

I forgot all about that. I remember participating in it & what a great time I had!

*Edit- Never mind. I was remembering a college road trip we called "Hand Jobs Across America".
Now that was a blast!
Good times...

Yes... didn't it eliminate homelessness, or something like that?

Thanks for sharing that, Natural Citizen. I was so busy organizing a business, driving son back and forth to UW in Laramie and dealing with my daughter's school graduation I missed all else. Those are wonderful pictures of a more thoughtful America than we have today.
