They honestly believed it was negligible. The scoffed at her statement that Russia was a close neighbor. They jeered when people who have a better grasp of geography than they do, pointed out that Alaska and Russia fish the same waters.

"Washington (CNN)Russian military aircraft were spotted flying off the coast of Alaska for the fourth time in as many days, a spokesperson for the North American Aerospace Defense Command told CNN on Friday.

"The two most recent sightings occurred late Wednesday and on Thursday, with the first involving two IL-38 maritime patrol aircraft and the second involving two Tu-95 nuclear-capable Bear bombers.
Russian aircraft never entered US airspace but US F-22s and Canadian CF-18s jets were dispatched to perform an intercept during Thursday's encounter, according to NORAD.

"Obviously -- we are aware of it," White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters on Friday. "This is not highly unusual ... but we monitor everything."

They always get information smacked right back at them which often they can't deny even from their own news source. and they still don't get it.

Never laughed at $arah for that.
Always laughed and groaned about everything else because she dumb. Flat out dumb, as is the OP.

And now, to celebrate that she, Poopy Pants Chicken Shit and whoever that wanna be kid rock guy is - to celebrate that never made it out of the wannabes, they actually posed under quite a beautiful portrait of an incredibly successful American - Hillary Clinton.

How stupid do that bunch have to be to brag about being draft dodgers, failures, child molesters, sexaul predators, cheaters, thieves, liars, poachers, half-governors/100% quitters. But hey, Trailer Trash Night At The Oval Office is exactly the shit RWNJ Pootarian traitors value.

As goes the laughing at Palin's remark (and at Palin for making it) about Alaska's proximity to Russia, what was the theme and context that gave rise to her making her comment? The answer: there was no theme or context other than the literal one found in her remarks.

People were laughing about it because it was an inane remark, particularly coming from one who'd been a governor. They were not laughing for any other reason. One would expect a former governor to have somethign more insightful to offer than a mere geography lesson, if one can even call her remark that "worthwhile." The woman was asked for her insights about Russia and she responded by noting that one can see Russia from points in Alaska.

Well, I have news for you. People who know the map well could have assumed that much without ever having heard Palin tell them so. There was nothing insightful about her saying that Russia could be seen from points in Alaska, unless, of course, one is too stupid to look at a map of the area, or simply never has done so.

AlaskaMap.ashx

The narrowest distance between mainland Russia and mainland Alaska is approximately 55 miles. However in the body of water between Alaska and Russia, known as the Bering Strait, there sit two small islands known as Big Diomede and Little Diomede. Big Diomede is owned by Russia, while Little Diomede is owned by the US. The stretch of water between these two islands is about 2.5 miles wide. [1]

Note:
  1. The distance between those two islands is just under the limit of how far the eye can, on a clear day, see to the horizon, assuming the surface is at sea level, flat, and one is of average height (about 5'8"). Obviously, if one is on higher ground or the point being viewed is higher, more distant objects can be seen. One can use the Pythagorean Theorem to calculate the specific distances for any given pair of points.

As Spicer noted, it's not highly unusual. What likely is somewhat more unusual is that the event is reported nationally and that U.S.-Russia relations be as fractious as they currently are, which may well be their nadir since the end of the Cold War.

Thanks Trump!

Remember when the left laughed at Palin for commenting on Alaska's proximity to Russia?

No, I don't.

I remember the stooge saying she could see Russia from her porch, though.

Yeah, no. Russia is fairly close (55 miles is the closest point, but that is in the middle of nowhere) but the patrol aircraft the Russians are sending over could fly to the east coast of the USA as well. And have done so.

That isn't the point. My point is that this is normal stuff, and the lefties' guffaws and assertions that Alaska and Russia have no interactions, and Palin was an idiot for saying otherwise, just proves their ignorance. For Pete's sakes, my BROTHER took pics of Russian boats and the coastline of Russia when he was in AK.

It's WALKING distance from Russia to Alaska. Ask any Injun.

So you're stupid AND a liar.

Here's what she really said:

A big portion of her comments in the ABC interview were edited out of context to persuade public perception against her. Charles Gibson was determined to not let Palin be seen as more knowledgeable than Obama on the issues. I have the full transcript with the edited out parts described. Take a look how ABC purposely mangled her interview to shine her in a bad light.

ABC didn't want Palin to outshine their darlin Obama who never managed a payroll or held any executive office in his life.

Have a look.

With American miseducated students unable to find France on a map in record numbers, I doubt that there are many who know that Russia is our third closest neighbor.

People laughed about it on SNL and idiot liberals thought Palin actually said it.

I dont mind ejumakating you though, dudette. Your welcome.
