Both Parties should have been trying to keep jobs in this country. We have had a succession of leaders who thought that it was OK for jobs to go to other countries because it was good for the whole world. They were all wrong.

It is time to bring the jobs back to America. I will support anybody (even Obama) if he sets out on a policy of restoring jobs. It is that simple.

By some estimates, nearly half of the jobs created from 2000 through 2008 were in some way related to housing, i.e. perhaps the greatest bubble of all time, which clearly is not sustainable.

Having said that, as I read this thread, it reminds me that highly political people look at most everything through a highly political lens. "Bush tax cuts worked! The economy fell apart when Pelosi was elected!" or "Bush was responsible for the collapse! The weakest recovery on record is his fault!"

I think these highly politically partisan people - many of the posters in this thread - grossly underestimate the American people. Far, far more happens outside the political arena than in it, but highly partisan people want to look in the political arena for most explanations and then take credit or assess blame depending whether or not their party or the other party is doing something.

Dude...the economny started to tank almost IMMEDIATELY after Herr Bush took office.

If it wasn't for 9.11 his presidency would have crumbled over concerns about the abysmal economy. He certainly would not have survived to see a 2nd term.

I remember well, I graduated from college in 99, all my college years and even high school years, under Clinton, everyone everywhere was happy about how the economy was running under Clinton.

Soon after Bush took over, everyone and I mean EVERYONE started moaning about how the economy was starting to tank.

I can remember well how the economy steadily went down, down and down each year Bush was in office. It had a slight rise around 03 - 05 then it started to decline again...rapidly by late 06. I witnessed it personally.
