  • Turkey: Coup Has Failed, Erdogan More Powerful Than Ever
    PJ Media ^ | 16 July 2016 | Michael Van Der Galien
Izmir, Turkey -- It's a done deal: the military coup has failed. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his AK Parti remain in power and vow to take revenge against those behind the coup. Or, perhaps better said: against those they say are behind it. Now that the coup has clearly failed, we can conclude that this must have been the most incompetent attempted takeover in Turkey's troubled history. When part of the military launched their offensive last night (Turkish time), I immediately checked news channels supporting President Erdogan. Surprisingly, none of them were taken over. The only broadcaster that was...

  • Turkey's last hope dies
    FoxNews ^ | 07/16/2016 | Ralph Peters
Turkey's last hope dies By Ralph Peters Published July 16, 2016 Friday night’s failed coup was Turkey’s last hope to stop the Islamization of its government and the degradation of its society. Reflexively, Western leaders rushed to condemn a coup attempt they refused to understand. Their reward will be a toxic Islamist regime at the gates of Europe. Our leaders no longer do their basic homework. The media relies on experts-by-Wikipedia. Except for PC platitudes, our schools ignore the world beyond our shores. Deluged with unreliable information, citizens succumb to the new superstitions of the digital age. So a great country...

    Haaretz ^ | 7-16-2016 | haaretz
"Statement which urged all parties to 'respect the democratically elected government of Turkey' opposed by Egypt, which officials say argued that UNSC not in position to determine whether a government had been democratically elected" The United Nations Security Council failed on Saturday to condemn the violence and unrest in Turkey after Egypt objected to a statement that called on all parties to "respect the democratically elected government of Turkey," diplomats said. The U.S.-drafted statement also expressed grave concern over the situation in Turkey, urged the parties to show restraint, avoid any violence or bloodshed, and called for an urgent end...

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Saturday the Obama administration would entertain an extradition request but Turkey would have to prove wrongdoing by Gulen.
