Book banning is nothing new, however, when you see books of an obvious sexual nature that "responsible" parents would deem unacceptable for their "minor children" to view, the government must step in, as the "parent" decides what their minor children should be able to view. Those children aren't yours and they don't belong to the state (which I know upsets you Marxist-Communists), they are the responsibility of their parents, who send their children to school to learn academic materials, not flagrant sexual material.
I read how in the 1950's they tried to ban comic books which were lead by someone named Fredric Wertham.
The insane history of how American paranoia ruined and censored comic books
The Comics Code was the single most awful thing to happen to comic books and American creativity.

I remember during the 1980's when Moral guardians tried censoring heavy metal music, the trying to censor only made the heavy metal bands they wanted to censor famous.

How was Heavy Metal involved in the 1980s controversy surrounding the creation of parental advisories for “offensive” music?

IMHO, censorship has the opposite effect of trying to ban stuff and often ends up vindicating a group of people in feeling their oppressed.
Free speech is very important to Americans, When people feel they are targeted by censorship, they become more of a community as they feel targeted and rightfully so.
Censorship will be the death of all of us.
