CDZ Right to die

We have the right to die. What we don't have is the right to die peacefully, and painlessly, with the help of a physician, unless we're terminally ill (in Oregon anyway).

Assisted suicide with terminal illness is hardly having the right to die.
If you want to blow your brains out, and succeed, how will someone else stop you? If you drive down the road then ram your car into a brick wall, without other people behind you, how can that be stopped? If you want to shoot up with heroin to the point that your heart stops, make sure you go where you wont be found for a week, then you have succeeded.

If you fail, and most suicides fail, you will be institutionalized.

If you tell others, you will be institutionalized.

If others try to help, which you will need if you go through with the more scientific clean methods, they can go to jail.

Anyone who attempts and fails suicide did not want to die.

Wildly false.

You'd be suprised how many people have been walked in on trying to hang themselves.

And no, putting a gun in your mouth has a 100% reliability rate.

Nope, that is false.

More often than not people just wake up in the hospital having lost much of their brain matter.

If you tell anyone or dont succeed at suicide then you didn't want to be dead and SHOULD be put in a rubber room with a white jacket put on. I know many ways to leave this great planet, but I believe in God and have much to live for. Funny how those who left God feel like they want to die.

You're not "institutionalized" if you attempt suicide.

You're not "institutionalized" if you attempt suicide.

You most definitely are.

Someone deemed by the state as posing an immediate threat to themselves will be hauled off to a mental hospital.

If you want to keep suicide a personal choice, leave society and your loved ones out of that decision.

If you tell anyone or dont succeed at suicide then you didn't want to be dead

That's such bullshit.

People who have fired a gun into their head and live were fully committed to dying.

If you want to keep suicide a personal choice, leave society and your loved ones out of that decision.

Except suicide isn't a personal choice.

Those that attempt it will be shipped off to a mental hospital by the government. If a professional helps you do it clean, they will go to prison.

There are people who have survived jumping off the Golden Gate. They say the same thing - they didn't remember anything before until they jumped.
And what they thought when they jumped was this is the stupidest thing I have ever done.

I bet they all think that.

Name one person locked up by the State permanently for attempted suicide.

In the vast majority of cases, suicide is a symptom of a disease: depression. And depression can be fatal. I don't want to live in a country that refuses to treat depression as a mental health disease.

As they should.

Why?

Is it because you like to control people? Does it make you feel better about yourself when you force people against their will to live for their own good?

Loaded question.

It isn't permanent, but there are those that have been institutionalized for long periods of time for attempting suicide.

Okay, fine, treat it as a mental heatlh disease.

That does not give you the right to force people to do what you think is best for them. Rise above that petulant inhuman behavior.

Because I want to jail people who help others kill themselves? Do you hear yourself??

Yes, that is fucked up beyond all belief.

You are talking about jailing people for supporting another mans personal life decisions.

The problem with treating depression is that you are often forced to treat it against the will of the drepressed person. You can't get around that quandary with platitudes.
