Over 100,000 persons have died or disapeared as a result of the war on drugs in Mexico during the last 10 years.
Colombia is another country where war on drugs has been a terrible burden for the population.
Admitedly, it is not just the drugs, but the social discomposition ( poverty + corruption) which runs rampant on those countries.
Your argument assumes that more drugs will make for a better society. There's no way that will ever be true.

100, 000 deaths in Mexico , plus all the deaths and displaced people in Colombia
All of that puts pressure on the population and increases the number of illegals crossing the border.

Even without illegal drugs organized crime will continue to exist, but it will reduce one of its main sources of revenue.
