Certainly can't have a Christmas tree in Saudi Arabia even though there are Christians working there and certainly would enjoy having a tree. It's bad enough that there aren't any churches for the people to go to Christmas services, but what harm could a tree do?

Christmas trees are a pagan custom. The evergreen symbolizes the eternal life of Nature as Her sun dies on the (Southern) cross in the heavens, chills for three days and then rises again (on the horizon).

Somewhere along the line some religion -- I forget which one -- co-opted all that to sell memberships.

Oh btw celebrating it used to be illegal somewhere else too. Massachusetts.

The key word here is "smuggled".

Meaning it was a criminal activity.

Different countries have different rules.

I fail to see the problem. ..... :dunno:

It's a tree, not a cross or a bible. A small potted tree with lights might have been just a house decoration.

Japan displays millions of decorated trees at Christmas. There, Christmas is a celebration in which young lovers express their dedication to one another. I think that's pretty cool. Of course it's commercial; what isn't these days? But it's not a religious celebration. Only in the West do morons get so bent out of shape over such a beautiful celebration. Miserable people.
