Seems the days of Republicans holding back U.S. oil production - while bloviating about self reliance - are over.
It's not a Republican/Democrat question, it's simply good business, increase production when demand (prices) is high, dampen production when demand (prices) is low, they would be stupid not to. Mining companies (including those that mine petroleum) are particularly sensitive too the phenomenon since the commodity they sell is finite(i.e. there is only so much of it in the ground and they have a pretty good idea of how much it is).
