My guess is if 97 were shot dead and 204 were wounded over a 3 Day Weekend then the Illinois National Guard would be put in regardless of what the Governor wants

Its a reflection and symptom of the gang problems that plague Chicago and other cities. Besides those shootings, be assured street gangs are committing other crimes as well, such as facilitating drug sales
robberies etc.
If you were to take away all their guns, they will still be killing each other another way... or buying guns on the black market. And they would still be preying on innocent helpless citizens.

The real issue here is tackling the drug and gang problem that the Left never mentions and always wants to ignore for fear that it singles out racial groups.

How about coming together, with getting tougher on crime... going all out to get these people off the streets , while at the same time trying to bring back jobs and opportunity to the area?

He ran over 68 people with a SUV, a gun is not needed to kill discriminately. The thing is, in your process of finding out, we can tell you exactly what will happen before hand. Citizens who obey the law ..will follow the law regarding guns. Gang members for sure will never give up theirs and they will contact illegal sources to purchase fire arms. Illegal guns as well as drugs will then be sold in the city and honest civilians will have no way to defend themselves.

The real long term solution is get the thugs off the street so that stores and shops can come back to the city without fear of being robbed and ransacked. Drug sales are probably spurring most of this violence, so how do we keep things like fentanyl and heroin out of our neighbor hoods?

The drugs coming over the border is a national security crisis, yet this administration has gone out of its way to say there is no crisis at the border. Admitting the problem is the biggest step towards the solution.
