John Oates was pretty much the second man in the group. The guy with the voice was Daryl Hall.

I don't know who did the writing, but Daryl Hall made the songs work.

I became a fan back in the early 80s, when H2O was released. Their longtime friend, bandmate, and bassist; Tom "T-Bone" Wolk was my earliest influence on the 4 string. That being said, many songs did have John on lead like:
"She's Gone"
"You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling"
"Possession Obsession"
and believe me, he's got a good set of pipes in his own right.
