True but the perception of shooting opponents for being opponents would make Trump look like Obama to many independents Therefore a bad idea from a political perspective. Having them convicted of a lesser crime makes an easier sale to the middle.

Mr. Trump didn't win by being an Obamaesque pussy, and that's not how he's going to win the public's respect, and keep it.

Treason is treason. Mr. Obama lost the public's trust, in large part, by aligning himself with traitors.
