Should Americans Boycott GE ?

Makes me nervous how much of America's real estate they are buying up.
The drug store Walgreens was bought up by a Asian company a few years back, and they are ripping it to shreds , people are leaving the store at least in my area because they make you wait in line for a long time. People will stay with you when the quality is there, once they see your milking it, they will leave.

The clothes dryer that I used to have was a GE made one. It bit the dust almost three years ago, but it was purchased in the 1970's so I couldn't complain when it came time to get a new one after it continue to work all of them years. :) :) :)

God bless you always!!! :) :) :)

I don't think this is even remotely close to being accurate.

Reagan was a spokesman for GE and hosted the General Electric Theater on TV. GE built him a house in Pacific Palisades.

Yeah? So? You think 60+ year old history applies to the current day how exactly? For reference purposes the Soviet Union and the US were still embroiled in the Cold War, the Korean War had just ended and the Berlin Wall hadn't even started construction yet. In other words your attempt to besmirch Reagan is simply retarded.

China's Haier buys General Electric's appliance unit for $5.4 billion

So is China going to make Americans bow to them for work?
Will they turn Americans into their own version of Hop Sing or Peter Tong?

I don't have any GE products. However, if I was looking for a product, and GE had the best product at the lowest price... how idiotic would it be to pay more money, for a worse product, just because "I don't want GE"?

If you want to be poorer because you bought expensive crap, instead of cheap quality, be my guest.

Now if they are engaged in sex trafficking, or child porn, ok you got me. I'll boycott.

But because they are owned by a Chinese company? Who cares.

If anything, doesn't this blow a hole in the theory that China isn't investing in our country and creating jobs here?

Yes, Buffet announced during the crash of 08-09 to buy GE and I did and lost ten thousand dollars on one trade. However, I must be smarter than Buffet because I made a bundle of money during the crash of 08-09 using market trending, my own brand of market trending that I invented myself. I never went to college, paid one million to have breakfast with Buffet or read Stock Market for Dummies.

LIve by the sword, die by the sword, has turned into live by the free market, die by the free market

If you call this dying..... highest standard of living in the world... where our poor people live better than the middle class of 90% of the world.... where $31,000, the wage of two people working McDonalds, places you in the top 1% of wage earners on the planet.......... if that's dying by the free-market... then more death please. I'd like another serving.

That's not what I said at all. Would you tell us what you think about China buying GE?

Ya know.... I bought GE microwave when we remodeled the kitchen and it died within 2 years. At first I thought it had gotten damaged by warm/cold exposure because we'd stored all the cabinetry and appliances in the garage while the kitchen was being stripped (ended up having to take it all the way to the studs cause we moved everything, the wiring was... questionable, and insulation was bad.) However, it turns out that's the "norm" for GE microwave's, the what's-it magnetron thing lasts like 2-3 years... I'm so pissed because the microwave is completely integrated into the cabinets and I'll actually have to take off the moldings around it in order to get it out to get the magnetron thing replaced - I'm not doing that every few years wth?!? They can't even put in a different magnetron that lasts longer cause the damn things priority. >.< We had our last Kenmore nuker for like 15 years; only sent it off with the eldest because the GE one fit my kitchen design... Now I've got a POS microwave on the counter because I can't find a new one that fits in the custom sized hole and fits my design, been looking for like a year :(

I will /never/ buy another GE appliance, ever. :cranky:

That's a silly statement. GE is international in scope and derives most of it's profits from abroad. Most of the components in their appliance are manufactured in China, Indonesia, and several other countries. All of the major appliances sold in the US are assembled in the US using component manufactured abroad . Who buys the appliance division is irrelevant to consumers and workers because there is no plans to change anything but ownership of the division.

Buffet invested heavily in GE and particularly GE Banking a new company back then that may be defunct today. Bunker Hunt made a vain attempt to corner the silver market.
