We have arrived at the point where the very ideal of people deciding their own fate has become anathema to the left. Instead of power being invested at the local or state level using democratic principles, the left is now aligned with the globalist agenda to eliminate even the notion of national sovereignty.

I sure miss the time when the left believed in liberal principles like freedom of speech, self determination and the freedom to be an individual with individual opinions. During my own lifetime the left has gone from "question authority" to "submit to our authority".

People get so caught up in this whole left/right Conservative/liberal dichotomy that they fail to recognize the authoritarian/libertarian and Globalist/self determination dichotomy. It is the latter two wherein the true danger of today's left now lies.

No one removed it - it has been the process for the last 200 years.

Now the federal government even has the ability to outright blackmail the states. It is the inevitable march forward of bureaucracy constantly consuming more and more authority.
