student escorted out of class for not saying the pledge

Fact is I could care less where it came from or who wrote the original or why. I know what it says and what it means to me as an individual. That other Americans hate it is their problem, and i hope their problem never becomes mine.

Do you think it was NECCESARY to add "UNDER GOD" to the POA?

No it was not necessary, but it was done. And what does it truly mean? Not a thing if you don't believe in a God.

How did that old song go? I swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell.

Sadly, our president never recites the pledge, nor places a hand over his heart. He clasps his hands in front of his privates, which is becoming known as his "crotch salute."

Sadly, you're just another retard. What brought you out of the woodwork this time - a crotch malfunction?

Aw, heck, Coyote, just Google crotch salute...you'll find a lot of info, and might just learn something.

Why are you posting a BLOG entry as a form of verification? The photo there is the same one seen 'round the world, and clearly shows everyone else in the photo following protocol except Obama. If you choose to believe every BLOG post you read, it's no wonder you're misguided.

Obviously the little twit isn't happy about living in America.

Therefore, there are a lot of Obama, hate america type schools, where the little brat would be more comfortable.

No one is forcing the twit to stay here.

If a person (child or adult) wishes not to say the pledge, what is the big deal? That doesn't mean they don't appreciate their country and respect the sacrifices made. You are touting a logical fallacy with your rhetoric.

Better check your own sources.

The Pledge of Allegiance is more Socialist than you thought
Posted by David Kramer on April 20, 2009 06:09 PM

When Ron Paul points out towards the end of this video that the Pledge of Allegiance was created by Socialist Francis Bellamy, he isn’t just being provocative. I had forgotten that the original Bellamy salute to the United States flag when reciting the Pledge was the EXACT SAME ONE that the National Socialists (Nazis) used to salute Hitler (and the Italians used for Fascist Mussolini, for that matter). The salute was changed to placing one’s hand over one’s heart only after we entered World War II.

Anthony Gregory wrote a terrific essay on the subject of the statist Pledge of Allegiance a few years ago for lewrockwell.com.

The founders never said the Pledge.

In fact, it was written by a Socialist.

Yes... do your level BEST to make the Pledge of Allegiance sound BAAAAAAAAAAD.... it will make you look SOOOOOOO smart in the eyes of your America hating brothers and sisters... pfft... :eusa_hand:

Why do ALL you fucking liberal shit stains HATE America and it's traditions so much? WHY?! What is your PROBLEM?!

lol

Famous uses of 'but it's tradition'

-Tories, when defending the crown

-Slaveholders

-Segregationists

-Pedophiles defending the marrying off of young girls

-Capitalists defending child labour in the coal mines

-Catholics defending the sale of scapulars, molestation of alter boys, and gay exorcisms

'It's tradiution' is not an argument. It's an admission of mental retardation and an inability to demonstrate any reason to continue the practice.

Having children stand up and recite a "pledge of allegiance" every school day is ridiculous to begin with. People can decide for themselves where their loyalties lie when they're adults.

Kinda like you right?

You have no problem taking advantage of the freedoms we enjoy, and the opportunities available in this country, just so long as it doesn't interfere with your fucked up agenda.

Ya gotta love the society you envision.:cuckoo:

What is Kalam's agenda?

If people didn't oppose traditions, they'd never change.
Christmas is a tradition....you on the left have successfully set the foundation for it's destruction....I guess this is what you all call change....great job!!!! :booze:

the christian part of Christmas is dying. the materialistic part is growing exponentially every year. I personally hope it stays around just to see people get bent out of shape over 'xmas' due to their lack of understanding of the greek alphabet
There is no Christian element to Saturnalia, no matter what name Satan (acting through the Roman Church of Constantine) might assign it. It remains a pagan holiday, and therefore is the worship of false gods-of Lucifer, the god of this world.

Traditions change and evolve. Eventually "change" becomes "tradition". And it's not always bad. Arguing that tradition should be preserved for the sake of tradition is as foolish as arguing change for the sake of change.
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Coyote again.

****-ass software :doubt:

I guess if we get god out of america, get rid of the american flag, band anything that made america great, then maybe the handful of unamerican nobodys who want their 15 minutes of fame (no matter how they get it) will be satisfied. Or will they?

a pledge of allegiance to a free country written by a socialist is what made american great? was it better before or after some nutjobs added "under god" in an attack against communism?
Not only was it written by a socialist:

The recital was accompanied with a salute to the flag known as the Bellamy salute, described in detail by Bellamy. During World War II, the salute was replaced with a hand-over-heart gesture because the original form involved stretching the arm out towards the flag in a manner that resembled the later Nazi salute.

I was never taught this in school and I doubt kids are taught this now. It's amazing how indoctrinated school children are these days...by the rightwingloons.

I prefer the raised fist.

The raised fist is usually regarded as an expression of solidarity, strength or defiance.

The rose is optional ;)

Christ Sakes....what a thread....everyone of us has probably gone through school saying this thing....and whether it meant something to you or you just mindlessly said it or you hated it.....I'm willing to bet EVERY poster who commented here, would band together with others, and defend this country to the best of their ability, should someone be so foolish as to try and invade this place.....the bottom line is we are all in this together, and as usual, when our backs are against the wall,we will all come together as one....AS AMERICANS......even you Dean....

As Americans? Maybe. As free men and women who believe (most of us, at least) in liberty and human rights? Definitely!

'American' simply describes what's on your passport.

The problem with stressing the nationality is that if the US gov't turns against its people as many have in the past, then it will warrant destruction, no loyalty based on 'Americanism'

Even though you KNEW EXACTLY to what I was referring, or should have, you puke out that long list of hyperbole garbage as if it had some relevance.

You're a troll.

Comparing a simple pledge of allegience to a country that gives you many benefits...and the freedom oppose it, to Hitler Youth is ridiculous. Yes, nationalism can be carried too far but to think it's a slippery slope from a pledge and teaching civics is a fallacy. Just remove God, stick to the original and let those who do not wish to say it stand quietly out of respect. Children can decide once they are adults, how they wish to respect or disrespect but at least they will be doing it out of knowledge and not ignorance (we hope).

Learning about civics, how our government works, how we as individuals can influence means we have an educated populace rather than sheep.
