student escorted out of class for not saying the pledge

Traditions change and evolve. Eventually "change" becomes "tradition". And it's not always bad. Arguing that tradition should be preserved for the sake of tradition is as foolish as arguing change for the sake of change.

Yeah, and I HATE turkey, m'k, so can we get-the-fuck-over having it for Thanksgiving?

Sacrilage!

What are you...some sort of American-hating smegpot? Are you against smashed potatos to? And gravy? What is your stand on gravy? Maybe you ought to leave this country - there's countries out there that don't eat turkey you know!

I hate gravy and I despise "smashed" or mashed potatos.

I'd like a nice Fillet au Boef con truffles.

I guess if we get god out of america, get rid of the american flag, band anything that made america great, then maybe the handful of unamerican nobodys who want their 15 minutes of fame (no matter how they get it) will be satisfied. Or will they?

a pledge of allegiance to a free country written by a socialist is what made american great? was it better before or after some nutjobs added "under god" in an attack against communism?

I wonder what a list of countries and leaders who forced people to pledge allegiance to them would look like..... I wonder what orwell would think

Not only was it written by a socialist:

The recital was accompanied with a salute to the flag known as the Bellamy salute, described in detail by Bellamy. During World War II, the salute was replaced with a hand-over-heart gesture because the original form involved stretching the arm out towards the flag in a manner that resembled the later Nazi salute.

I was never taught this in school and I doubt kids are taught this now. It's amazing how indoctrinated school children are these days...by the rightwingloons.

Fact is I could care less where it came from or who wrote the original or why. I know what it says and what it means to me as an individual. That other Americans hate it is their problem, and i hope their problem never becomes mine.

Christ Sakes....what a thread....everyone of us has probably gone through school saying this thing....and whether it meant something to you or you just mindlessly said it or you hated it.....I'm willing to bet EVERY poster who commented here, would band together with others, and defend this country to the best of their ability, should someone be so foolish as to try and invade this place.....the bottom line is we are all in this together, and as usual, when our backs are against the wall,we will all come together as one....AS AMERICANS......even you Dean....

You are probably right, though I have my doubts about some of the people in here.

Do you think it was NECCESARY to add "UNDER GOD" to the POA?

The founders never said the Pledge.

In fact, it was written by a Socialist.

Yes... do your level BEST to make the Pledge of Allegiance sound BAAAAAAAAAAD.... it will make you look SOOOOOOO smart in the eyes of your America hating brothers and sisters... pfft... :eusa_hand:

Why do ALL you fucking liberal shit stains HATE America and it's traditions so much? WHY?! What is your PROBLEM?!

take the god part out and many more would say it. we aren't a theocracy no matter how many people living in real america want it to be.

Sorry, but you're cracked. 80% of this country identifies themselves as "Christian." Take the God part out and LESS would say it. The majority is about fed up with being pushed around by mouthy liberals. November is going to be a learning lesson for you all.

No it was not necessary, but it was done. And what does it truly mean? Not a thing if you don't believe in a God.

How did that old song go? I swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell.

NO!!! Because I don't believe in "GOD" it's an INSULT to me to put YOUR God into MY pledge to my COUNTRY! I DON'T pledge to YOUR God but I WILL pledge to my COUNTRY! Don't you get it?

If people didn't oppose traditions, they'd never change.

Christmas is a tradition....you on the left have successfully set the foundation for it's destruction....I guess this is what you all call change....great job!!!! :booze:

That's right...Christmas is on Life Support and will be gone in only a few more years. :cuckoo:

Then I guess you all better send me my gifts now.
