Take heart Democrats... Even a single month's interruption in social security benefits will swing tens of millions of votes immediately.

This has nothing to do with education or belief in anything. This is the one single hot button issue that cannot be negotiated with. People who Miss even a single payment will be completely convinced and extremely difficult to de-convince if not impossible. The much smarter approach to this would be to slowly but surely begin upgrading the entire system to a modern software. Make the corrections slowly over the course of the next two to three years. If they fumble this football they fumble the whole game.
You think the government hasn't ever fucked up someone's social security payment?

Very unlikely.

Musk is from the private sector, not government. In the private sector meeting payroll is priority one. Not making payroll is the worst thing a business can do.

The talk about Musk "messing with" Social Security is scare talk meant to frighten the uneducated and those elderly with diminished capacity.

The current acting administrator of the social security administration has indicated that he believes the DOGE team is bound to make mistakes in their effort to examine social security and its payment system. He admits that it needs to be done but considering the fact that it runs on a 65-year-old poorly maintained and antiquated piece of software he is certain that the software engineers working for Musk will fumble through it and cause it to malfunction almost definitely.

I have to emphasize that while I support this effort It must be observed and noted that even a single mistake that interrupts benefits only once..... Will be the single most powerful trigger to vote flipping anyone has ever seen.
It will happen quickly and have lasting damage.

This should be interesting to watch.

It would probably be cheaper to have Amazon deliver the money.

You just better hop Trump doesn't start talking about making social security tax exempt...lol
Why? That would make it “go broke” (use up the Trust Fund) sooner.

That would be stupid

Of course he's not talking about an individual error.

He's talking about a mass error where no ones payments go out.

But you knew that right?

The claim is that social security has never missed a payment and that isn't true.

True. There is a reason guns and Social Security are called the 3rd rails in politics.
If a politician touches either one they're pretty much dead.

Jesus, is this what you guys are pinning all your hopes on? Good luck with that.

I'm not one of the "you guys"....lol....
I guess I'm trolling a little. Though I would highly recommend that the DOGE team be very careful with the SS payment system. This is an instinctual reaction... People don't do any reasoning when it comes to this stuff they simply react.

Why is it so important to remove records of dead people who received SS benefits if they’re obviously no longer receiving those benefits.

Why are people getting their panties in a bunch over this?

You would never corrupt the integrity of the data be deleting dead people. Set them as inactive and block payments? Sure.

But you retain the historical records for litigation, earnings and payment histories, and for research purposes.

LOL, its the nature of the beast. Oracle has been working on the DMV system for over 15 years in CA and it still has problems. Window is over 30 years old with a ridiculous number of versions and that system is not much better than 3.11 and it still has problems. I think the software companies do it on purpose. Cerner made a mess of the VA system during the Biden admin. I yearn for the days before all of this technology that works at the speed of light-----ROTFLMFAO.
Speed of light technology is a super advantage until one realizes the complexity of the programs one needs to learn about to operate the system. Then there are sooooooo MANY different programs/platforms, add on's/new editions to choose from. Of course malware protection is critical as well as both time invested & of course the co$t to get into it. Below is a cad program I discovered that caught my eye a while back that made me realize how dated me & my T-square, 45/30 & templates had become.

"I think the software companies do it on purpose".

I did not invest into the site nor purchase any software as I feared that GrabCad while here @ the present may well be gone tomorrow. GrabCad is still here but of course keeps updating with new updates for sale. The technology game in all reality is just a time burning money pit, like companies update, merge, get bought out & it turns into an endless game of chasing the ever changing technology. Below; Kelly Coffield managed to put it all together from cad programs/programing & marry it all up to the CNC multi-axis pattern forming router(s). Kelly is what I planned to be when I entered into my later years but I did not understand back then the complexity of putting it all together let alone make it all work out to achieve world class zinc/aluminum castings.

I learned AutoCad 13. Adobe put out a pretty good product but the learning curve was steep. Last version I saw seemed kind of dumbed down. SMH. I don't know why they don't continue successful versions and let the market tell them which to stick with.

I learned the hard way(most folks do) @ a fairly young age that there are only 3 things I could depend upon absolutely. Those 3 things were/are me, I & myself. I also learned that what one is told is not always the truth. That so called social security(I call it social insecurity) may be here today but it could easily be gone tomorrow. When I became eligible for full SSI I started collecting it but just stayed employed as usual & let the SSI just grow in number in my bank account in case I ever needed it. Many Americans today appear to think that a SSI is the promised land of wine & honey, not even realizing that SSI is always teetering towards insolvency. Moral of the story is; "Never Put All Your Eggs In One Basket".

C/A what cad program are U currently using?

None. I retired eleven years ago. My copy of AutoCad isn't supported anymore--so I have a useless program on CD in the shelf, LOL, I ought to toss it out but I can't seem to do it. I have a lot of old software (unsupported Photoshop etc.) that should go too. Newer computers don't have CD drives anymore and I'm not going to buy a drive to install a program that I won't use anyway.

The poorly educated people who believe Trump's lies will forgive him for anything.
We are a mature corrupted nation in decline. Politics is impeding any renewal that will give us a chance. We are like 19th century England heading into a new century and regressing. We went from our height at the end of WW 2 and into warnings around 1970. That was quick.
