What may sound ridiculous to the layman, wouldn't be so for someone in the field. Numbers 10-6 are perfectly normal sounding studies and 5-1 are worded to make them appear crazy. You're being led by the nose by people who're willing to lie to further an agenda. The NIH is one of the best uses of government money around. It's improved everyone's chances for a longer lifetime and provided much needed basic knowledge which drug companies use in developing the next generation of medications, saving them money and contributing to their economic viability.

Really? When we're in dire straits with deficits and debt? Just when would you be willing to pull the plug on some of these programs? WE DON"T HAVE MONEY......WE ARE BORROWING MONEY + INTEREST.

Let the drug companies pay for their own research and development (R&D). Sounds more like a ploy to get camapaign donations

I certainly don't see anything on that list that's a red flag. Money has been getting tighter, but we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. Slow down research and you slow down the future. At what point should we say enough is enough? If it's leading to debt, why not increase revenues? If we don't spend the money, companies will have to do all the basic research themselves, leading to massive duplication of effort due to the need for "trade secrets". That would hurt everyone's bottom line, slowing the economy, realizing less in tax revenue and forcing more borrowing and debt. Doesn't seem to make sense, when we already have a system where info is shared and everyone benefits.

Lefties never see a red flag when it comes to spending taxpayers money, I get that. I also get that the answer is always revenue enhancement with the lefties.
I also understand fully that private companies have R&D in their audits for a reason.
You can spin your excuses until the cows come home, but it doesn't change the facts, we're spending too much money.
