Last week, Hillary Clinton asserted that Trump has a bevy of deplorable supporters. Well, the fact is he does, and the deplorable ones are the most visible and most vocal of his supporters.

• The folks who will assault others at Trump rallies. No, that's not deplorable behavior at all. Nothing could be farther from so.
• The folks who lash out in forums and tweets with unvarnish vulgarity. Perfectly virtuous behavior, isn't it? LOL
• The folks who actually believe the crap Trump has promoted and that is clearly not so, and those folks have made no effort on their own to establish whether it is or not. I guess there again, we are supposed to consider willful ignorance as not being deplorable?

The dismay and outcry over Mrs. Clinton’s comments -- the insistence that it represents some kind of insult and not a statement of truth -- reflects the degree to which many of our nation's voters, reporters and observers still shy away from these facts.
