U.S.
For some time now, we have been repeatedly told that our government can't work.

Well, this week, it worked.

It worked despite the efforts of Republicans who have blocked there being a leader at the ATF.

The fear we have been repeatedly been made aware of is that President Obama's aim is to come to our homes and take our guns, or even worse, to drone us on U.S. soil.

Well, in Boston today, they came to our homes and they did not take away our guns, and they did not drone anyone, and they did not kill the American in the boat.

They didn't do any of the things that the haters and the fearmongers said they would do.

The fear has been promoted to us that we ought to take up arms against our government. But answer me this? Would you rather have the system we have now, or one that has been violently taken over by goons who promise that that would make us more free?

Thank you first responders, firefighters, medics, surgeons, police, all the way up the ladder. The co-operation between the citizens of Boston and the different levels of government was outstanding.

The last two sentences was all that was needed, really.

The preceding bullshit just shows to go ya how divisiveness happens

Gubmint's job is to scoop up antisocial miscreants and bring them to justice...They don't need a fucking medal for that.

Gubmint's job isn't to tell us what and where to eat, drink and/or smoke, what kinds of cars we may drive, to wear our seat belts, to give us an anal probe at the airport, to force us to buy things we don't want, ad nauseum.

Nice try.

Yes, thank you for imprisoning the citizens of Boston in their homes and rolling tanks through the streets in the greatest showing of security theater the U.S. has likely ever seen, all the while the suspect escaped from the authorities and remained at large throughout the entire day.

The government is owed thanks.

Thank you for letting the older brother into the country after you were warned he was a terrorist.

Thank you for fucking up security so badly that the two were allowed to place the bombs.

Thank you for having eyes on the ground that didn't notice the bombs for over an hour until they detonated.

Thank you for conducting such a piss poor search that it took an old man to find him in the boat.

No, we weren't divided, despite the efforts of Republicans all week to put forward erroneous news stories, particularly from Newscorp and then by the InfoWars people, both of which were completely making shit up as they went along.

In the Republican budget, if they had their way, our first responders and many of those jobs up and down the ladder would be wiped out.

Am I criticizing that party? Yes.

Even when the country pulls together and does something amazing, that crowd is currently pissing all over it, and they were pissing all over our government this whole week.

They mean to divide us, but we continue to rise above.

They will use this now as a wedge to divide us against sensible, common sense immigration reform, but we must rise above these divisive forces.

Your post is exactly what I mean.

You're full of crap.

The brothers came here when they were 13 and 6. They came here as refugees. They came of age here, grew up here, went to school here.

But you mean to divide us by pulling out garbage from right-wing sites that live in a bubble of their own making, which said that 12 people died, and which said that a Saudi national was responsible, and which said that two brown guys on the cover of the NY Post did it, even after they were cleared.

Like Adam Lanza walking into that school and shooting up all those kids, our government can not possibly anticipate every plot that is being hatched.

We're lucky that they do prevent as much as they do, given the cockblocking our government has suffered these last 5 years from functioning properly by having positions filled throughout and by having someone head the ATF.

The person in charge of leading the effort when it comes to explosives presently does not exist because Republicans have held up the nomination, out of fear that President Obama and Eric Holder will then somehow come to our homes and take away our guns, which is a preposterous idea.

Take your crap and peddle it somewhere else, because mindless conjecture from anti-government people means shit.

The First Lady suggesting you eat some fruits and veggies instead of stuffing your fat face with beef and cheese and dessert all day was a smart suggestion.

Are you trying to pretend that two years ago we weren't warned that the older brother was a terrorist? It won't work. The FBI already admitted they knew.
