The Death of Hollywood

The last movie I saw in the theater was the second Aviator and it was a miserable experience. The woman a few rows down took a few phone calls during the film as if she was just sitting on her couch, the family behind us let there kids play games on their phone with the volume up throughout the film. Making a complaint was meet with “what are we supposed to do“ from the manager. I can spend the same amount of money a few months after the movie is released and buy a copy to watch it at home or stream it. My patience level with rude people is not what it used to be so i adjust to make my experience one I enjoy
Try going to a premium theater.

It's what I do from time to time.

Premium theaters are smaller, more luxurious and typically have food (and alcohol if you like that) served to you.

The chairs are big and nice and plush, and they're typically in the nicer areas of town.

I've seen a few movies that way that I really wanted to see, support and have a good experience with.

There's one in Atlanta called IPIC. It's nationwide, but only in select cities, it's not in every, or even most, states.

I'm sure there's something comparable in most cities.

Clearly the tickets are more expensive, but that's to be expected.

Tarantino's next and last movie is the only movie coming out I'm interested in. But even that I am not super excited for as his movies had softened over time and lost some of their edge they used to have.

All in all I don't care about new movies. I have lost complete interest in modern movies for the most part. Especially Hollywood produced movies.

Even studios like a24 that make good movies don't make anything I want to watch more than once.

70s, 80, 90s all have a shit ton of movies I watch over and over and over again.

Disney was as American as apple pie, but something has changed in America and now half of Americans hate it!

It wasn't Disney that changed, it was America that changed away from world norms.
No. No. It was Disney. Remaking Disney classics to race, sex swap the characters was Disney. Putting homosexuality front and center in Disney films wasn't America changing. It was Disney. Disney never had portly bearded men in dresses pretending to be fairy godmothers. That's woke sickness.

It isn't half of America that hates what happened to Disney. It's much more than that. It's enough to destroy the company.

I remember when no Disney park employee could have facial hair, at all. Same sex couples would be escorted from Disney properties if they were dancing together. Walt, himself, called Annette Funicello and screamed at her for wearing a bikini that showed her belly button.

Don't say stupid stuff like Disney didn't change America did. Disney went woke. Now they will go broke.

You're an American, you must be right, and the world is out of step.

Let's watch your situation develop until it becomes the right vs. the left and gun murders become the only answer.

I look forward to that day.

However it does not change the tremendous shift in the Disney company. Or, that the shift is causing the company financial harm.

So destroy it! Destroy everything American if you must.

There's been a political over-reaction to the woke issue and the LGBT issue and it's been done for political purposes.

that appears to be the willing destruction of America and it's values for political purposes.

Is there any road back to moderation of attitudes?

Do you have to see more tall buildings being brought down by terrorists or the CIA?

It's not enough to add CGI and a stupid plot twist. White characters are race swapped to black. Straight characters are swapped to gay. Then every last smidgen of talent has to be squeezed out and shit canned.
Godzilla Minus One was a damn fine film. Waiting for American Fiction to stream, Deadpool 3, Dune, and Nosferatu.

Parents that are unwilling to expose their children to degeneracy is hardly the willing destruction of America. If history is any guide, the embrace of woke and LGBT issues, occurred in Caligula's Rome, Nero's Rome and in the modern day Weimar Republic.

So much for carrying the conversation forward without insults.

You failed.

Ordinary observations coming from a forieiner are interpreted by Americans as being insults. They could be correct half the time too.

No, insults are interpreted as insults. Unless you lack the intellectual capacity to rewrite the sentence to be less insulting. Which I think you do.

But then, foreigners always incorrectly assume that Americans having values and opinions are some kind of arrogance because we all know that Americans are not permitted to have an opinion.

The following should be good...
  1. Planet of the Apes
  2. Gladiator
  3. Beverly Hills Cop
  4. Lord of the Rings
  5. Bad Boys
  6. Hell Boy

The last being the least of the guarantees, but this is my list that should be good.
I can't buy into any of the Planet of the Apes movies. The whole concept is too stupid. The others are possibles IF they can write a good enough bad guy. A decent movie needs a really good bad guy. Someone like Alan Rickman in Robin Hood or Tim Curry in the 1993 version of the Three Musketeers. A really good bad guy can carry a mediocre movie.

I was surprised. I went on a whim and really enjoyed it. The writers really stayed within historic events in Japan. I enjoyed seeing the CGI Shinden attacking Godzilla. Seeing the accurate IJN Takao, destroyers and escort ships was a plus. I enjoy CGI when it's used to enhance the reality of a movie.

They're such morons. If they can't come up with any good original ideas and have to remake existing movies, why not pick some bad ones to remake. Wouldn't mind seeing another crack at Battlefield Earth. Don't remake good movies. Makes no sense.

You do have a point, in that the major studios push a massive amount of sequels.

There's not one movie on the list that is a "must see", not to mention ultra woke added.

The first part of Dune is a complete trash. Despite criticism, the original one was better.
