You seem keen on giving minorities a pass on personal accountability and social responsibility based on your five “reasons”. Let’s review:

Poverty - define what it means to live in poverty in the US. What are the numbers of people who don’t have a roof, running water, food, healthcare, even cell phones, internet and premium TV. Living in “poverty” in the United States is better than any other country.

Obviously not in the case of this guy, he was living in a homeless shelter.

Addiction - Addiction has been around since the beginning of time and will be through the end of time. In the current snapshot, you could help this part of your cause by supporting strict enforcement of border security to cut the flow of drugs from Central America.

The problem with prohibition is that it never works. Didn't you dumb-shits learn anything from prohibition? Criminalizing drugs has made the problem worse. What we need are treatment programs. Unlikely we'll get them, though. DuPage County, where I used to live, is fighting a five year battle with a local town to open a clinic.

Now, when the inner city addict gets the same treatment Rush Limbaugh got when he had his little problem, we can talk.

Mental Illness - I’m all for help in improving mental illness as members of my family have been impacted by it. But as with my Family member and /or random people in the street with mental illness, that does not give them a pass on personal accountability.

Actually, legally it does, as you can be found not guilty by reason on insanity.

But the bigger problem here is that affluent white people get treatment, poor black people get prison.

Racism - this term has become so broad yet it is something that is not unique to US. It is racist to refuse service to a black family or group of black people. It is not racist to call out behavior of people who happen to be black. If the US was so racist, we wouldn’t be the top destination among immigrants. You want to see racism in its purest form? Check out the Middle East and Asia.

Gun Proliferation - guns have been proliferating since the passage of the 2nd Amendment in 1791. We didn’t have a problem with guns until 1965 when mass shootings as a form of mass violence began to accelerate to the levels we have today; guns are a means to commit that violence and they are also a means to deter it.

Again, 200 years ago, guns were luxury item. Most people didn't own them. Certainly not like today, where the gun industry is pushing them and we have more guns than people in this country.

They are not mentally ill. They are evil. The knockout game has been going on a lot longer than three years. It is nearly always committed by Negroes against whites and Asians. I doubt it was going on before the civil rights movement.

Well, no, back then, the mentally ill of all races were institutionalized. Not much was done to cure them, they were just medicated and kept out of trouble.

And in an totally illiberal moment, I would be all for bringing back mental hospitals and making it a lot easier to institutionalize people. the idea that the HAVE to do something immediately dangerous to get locked up is stupid.

Dallas police say Banks is currently in a Dallas County Jail on separate, unrelated charges.

On Monday afternoon, Banks was arrested for criminal trespassing at the UNT System building off Main Street. Banks was taken to jail, and on Tuesday, detectives matched his clothing and description to the assault suspect and obtained a warrant for aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
