Its not about blaming someone else for crimes. It is about a private prison system that is designed to keep prisoners locked up. You take someone in for a fairly petty crime, and keep them for years, you don't get a citizen capable of being a productive part of society. That goes across races.

Of course. But the punishment should fit the crime. It should not be about profits, which leads to corruption. Thousands of young offenders were sent to prison because the judges were paid to send them rather than any sort of justice. And the private system maximizes profits in way that run counter to any effective penal system concepts.

That said private for profit prisons should not exist and the lobbyist that promote these corporations that run these for profit prisons need to be outlawed. For profit prisons need "X" amount of beds filled to make a profit. It should not be in societies interest to fill "X" amount of beds.
Most private prisons contracts with the state guarantee a minimum profit whether beds are filled or not, but corporations like/need to maximize profits to keep their shareholders happy.

Pretty sure it's politicians that passed the ridiculous number of laws we have and it was they who funded the criminal law system. I'm just certain the guys that run private corporations in the prison industry have no such power.
