The Silver Lining Of Trump

They have two more things that will really help them. Obama's legacy and Mrs. Tuzla Clinton.

It's quite possible less than 50% of eligible voters will vote, and it will come down to which candidate actually gets the most people to turn out to vote against him or her.

Trump's negativity with Americans as a whole is so great (even much more than Clinton, for heaven's sake) that his nomination and campaign will seriously injure the GOP senate campaigns. He has absolutely no coattail power for the down ballot. The GOP needs all the money it can get to help the GOP candidates for the senate.

yeah yeah, Jake. We know his negativity with you is very great. That is why the lines at the polling stations have been at historic levels.

Trump's negative image is the worst of all the candidates, by far, generally between 65 and 70%.

He will seriously hurt the down ticket, and the majority of GOP candidates are running from him as quickly as possible.

It's going to be unusual ... assuming Bernie doesn't pull off the mother of all upsets in Wisc NY and CA .... and assuming the gop doesn't somehow deny Trump the nomination. All conventional wisdom is the senate is the dems for the taking .... so long as whomever they nominate wins or at least wins in enough battleground states where the gop is defending the senate, and despite Hillary being toxic outside the party, assuming she can get the Bernie vote, she should win because Donald will have blacks and latinos and Asians turning out in record or near record numbers.

HOWEVER, given that we know Trump will say absolutely anything about anyone regardless of any lack of factual basis or even borderline human decency, and God knows Hillary's pulling freight cars of baggage, it could be that Trump can run a campaign for next to nothing, burning the national landscape behind him for the gop, and force Hillary to spend a billion dollars leaving the dems little to nothing for the senate.

The irony is that in many ways, Bernie's a better candidate, but he can't seem to get blacks, and most latinos, to vote for him against Hillary. They'd still vote for him if he were running against Trump.

A lot of the Trump negativity is based on a MSM's "full-court press" to paint him as a racist, misogynist, homophobe [etc].

But this is all nonsense, and Trump has not seen fit to counter this campaign by the MSM. The basis of the claim of "racism" is Trump's simple position that our immigration laws ought to be taken seriously. There is nothing racist about it.

On the other side, we have HRC's cornucopia of scandals, none of which have really been exploited yet, and it's starting to look like she will steal the nomination from a more-popular Bernie Sanders by exploiting anti-democratic (small 'd') primary rules.

Hillary is eminently beatable, regardless of who is running against her. I worry more about Cruz' eligibility problem than Trump's negatives.

I know a few Republicans who are willing to admit they are voting for Bernie Sanders. Lifelong, card-carrying Republicans who are totally disgusted with Trump, Cruz, et al., wimpy Reeyance Pubis, and the whole stupid, bitchy, high school girly men of the GOP.

So if I know a few Republicans who admit this and I'm a liberal..... one can only imagine.

Um...yeah, except we know he said a lot of stupid, racist, misogynist, homophobic things because he did on live television.
The MSM didn't make it up, like Republicans like to make shit up to protect him. Tools.

Maybe you're just bleeding from your...whatever right now and can't think straight.

It is bigoted and fear mongering to claim illegal immigrants are more likely to be rapists and murderers and that all muslim immigration should be halted, with no exceptions, and to not denounce calls to register muslims. The MSM have given the Donald a free pass. The questions are whether Hillary is too damaged to make that charge, and it's also a question and whether the Bern is too far off the socialist deep end to unify the left and the DLC.

Cruz has also played the bigot and fear cards, but he may just be pandering ... since he really is a half Cuban Canadian whose cajones are held in trust by a Goldman Sachs trader (-:

He's owned by Goldman Sachs. Bought years ago at a very cheap price.

The rumor is a lie, yes. And, yes, Trump's campaign has attracted evil, desperate homophobes, racists, anti-feminists, anti-ageists.

And yet, he's the TPM darling. I never really understood that. Of course, I've never really understood the TPM's motivations and endgames. They seem muddled, contradictory and ultimately self-defeating.

There's no such thing as an "illegal immigrant".
