The chief justice rarely issues public statements. This one was reminiscent of another in 2018 defending judicial independence after the president criticized a different judge’s ruling.

Just hours after President Trump called for the impeachment of a judge who sought to pause the removal of more than 200 migrants to El Salvador, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. issued a rare public statement.

“For more than two centuries,” the chief justice said, “it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision. The normal appellate review process exists for that purpose.”

Mr. Trump had called the judge, James E. Boasberg, a “Radical Left Lunatic” in a social media post and said he should be impeached.

The exchange was reminiscent of one in 2018, when Chief Justice Roberts defended the independence and integrity of the federal judiciary after Mr. Trump called a judge who had ruled against his administration’s asylum policy “an Obama judge.”

Boasberg is an incompetent fool who doesn't have the legal brains to try a mattress tag vandalizer around here. But is incompetence a legal basis for impeachment is the question.

In this case, I see it as a "no harm no foul" kind of case. The Illegals have been successfully settled in El Salvador and won't be coming back.

This doesn't change the fact that these Leftist District Court justices are vastly exceeding their powers as granted by Congress, and they must be reeled in, otherwise they have the power, in effect, to nullify a national election.

I was shocked to see that Trump said this. (No I wasn't. It was typical).
 
That's not for him to decide.

Congress impeaches not the Supreme Court.
That judge should not be impeached because he opposed Trump's illegal bs. SCOTUS is the check on the legislative and executive, therefore he does have a say. Since trump is pushing boundaries and not playing by the rules, the courts should do the same.

Outraged at Marbury changing the form of government into a judicial dictatorship, President Jefferson began to impeach the "Just Us"s one by one. That was based on a judicial decision, so the precedent was set.

As always, SCROTUS backed down when its self-granted privileges were challenged. They stated that judicial review was a "non-binding opinion." They waited things out before re-asserting their dictatorship.
