[QUOTE Not content to boast a name widely considered to be racist toward Native Americans, the Washington Redskins are now suing a group of five Native Americans after they successfully brought a petition against the team demanding a name change.

The five won a victory earlier this year when a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office board ruled that six trademark registrations on the team's name should be canceled because they were "disparaging to Native Americans" when registered. The board acted after the group of Native Americans petitioned it to cancel the trademark registrations.

After the board's action, the team in August sued the five Native Americans, asking a federal court to stop the cancellation from happening. [Talking Points Memo]

The Native Americans say the team's real beef should be with the patent office, but the team disagrees, citing the fact that the five individuals filed the petition in the first place.

Good. This is the backlash these liberals have asked for.

KARMA'S A BITCH.

And I should point out...it probably was just a small percentage that was whining to begin with. But they'll be shutting their mouths real soon.

White liberals, and a tiny minority who are native activists are the only ones who are sniveling about this.

Some asshole marxist judge kicking our First Amendment in the teeth again. Indians could care less that Washington's NFL team is called the Redskins. They know the brand is worth hundreds of millions of dollars not only to the team, but to all the businesses in Washington who depend on that brand: sports bars, hotels, restaurants, team clothing manufacturers and many others. They want a piece of the action to shut the hell up. That’s what this is all about.

Some people have to realize that while you have the freedom to protest, if you harm a businesses bottom line, there could be consequences to pay.
