Jerri - Seal does not understand that GOD having chosen the Jews for His Sinai Covenant does NOT mean we are any 'better' to GOD than any other tribe of Man. He doesn't believe what I've told him, that this "choosing" is something we Jews do >>>NOT<<< take as making us any 'better'.

He's insisted on using the word 'goy' to mean something pejorative. In the 2nd chapter of Isaiah, "...nation shall not lift up sword against nation..." the word used is 'goy'. Does anyone seriously think the word used there is intended as a pejorative?

The Torah, the Hebrew Bible, makes it obvious that GOD made Covenants with *other* peoples as well -it doesn't list all of them, just a few to make the point that EVERY tribe has been chosen by GOD for some purpose. A good purpose, because GOD is good. My ancestors didn't even know there was an island whose people called it 'Eire' - so they had no idea what His plans for those tribes might be. It's GOD who's all-knowing, not any of us!

I think it would be very unreasonable to imagine that GOD has left out any group from His love - he chose us Jews in love, why he wanted us I have no idea. I have a sneaking suspicion that when He calls us 'stiff-necked' and 'stubborn', it is not entirely a complaint. It took Him quite a few hundred years to beat us into true monotheism and wholehearted devotion to Torah - and that same persistence has kept us alive and together and determined to stay in our Covenant no matter who else is doing what else.

Maybe that's all the purpose He has for us, to stay Jewish. Our very existence seems to bother some people: I've no idea why......
