Helpfully Illustrated for the Low-Information Voter

Detroit filed for bankruptcy yesterday, representing the largest municipal insolvency in American history.

Socialism improves its perfect record to zero-for-840. Or, as Dave Blount puts it, Detroit just ran out of other people's money.

There is one less acolyte for the shallow and reckless empirics who gave the name Liberal a bad name and who are now known as Progressives.

Bob Beckel...a reliable liberal who heretofore got his talking points each day from Obama's Chicago Political Apparatus...has just admitted total failure of a dear Democratic program.

He said the welfare programs (of which there are many) have merely produced three generations of black people dependent on the Government for support. He said "we thought we were doing the right thing, but we were wrong. We made a mistake."

I think the Bankruptcy of Detroit--the Crown Jewel of the Great Society--- helped to open his eyes at last.

Welcome to Reality, Bob.

So you think a picture of a random broken down building, and who knows when this picture was taken or the circumstances behind it, in comparison to the entire city of Hiroshima makes sense? You think a picture of that one building is really representative of the entire city of Detroit?

I'm well aware of Detroit's problems, and probably agree with most conservatives on what caused those problems in general, but that was a ridiculous comparison regardless.

When Orange County California went bankrupt in 1995, it was the biggest municipal bankruptcy to date.

Orange County was and is conservative Republican.

What's your point?

Detroit was never any more liberal than San Francisco,

and the San Francisco bay area is one of the richest most prosperous areas in America.

Rich people want to live in San Francisco, despite the Stalinist government, because of it's climate and natural beauty. Detroit's climate sucks and it has little natural beauty. That's why all the rich people escape to a more taxpayer friendly environment.

Logically you're right it doesn't "prove" anything, but actually Detroit is a hole. I have lived in 8 States literally from coast to coast and traveled across the US for my job and leisure and there is no city I've been to remotely comparable to Detroit.

kaz, BTW, is short for my home town, Kalamazoo, Michigan. And I'm a U of M grad, less than half an hour from there. It really is that bad. It's beyond belief.

I've lived within 45 minutes of both. Ann Arbor, Michigan and San Jose, California. Detroit bit the hand that fed it. The auto industry was the basis of their rise. By implementing socialist, workers party policies, they drove out the base of their economy. That is why they were destroyed. There was nothing to replace most of their economy. BTW, San Francisco isn't "the bay area" it's a piece of it. And they have the tech boom driving that. And liberalism does harm their economy. The difference certainly isn't that their politicians are better than Detroit's.

Are you denying that the Bay area is one of the richest areas in this country and also one of the most liberal??

lol, you're still an idiot. Getting worse by the day.

You always have an excuse, and it's always stupid. You are a model of consistency.

I've been to Detroit, and am aware of its troubles. Simply pointing out the stupidity of that image.

I agree, we should do what the Japanese did with Hiroshima and apply it to Detroit. Massive government subsidies and throw in Universal Healthcare for good measure.

Been there, done that .... the results were below expectations, time to give plan B a stab at the brass ring.

I was actually watching him say that live.

One view? You should do a google search for the ruins of Detroit. It's now a book. Here are a couple of more images for you. There are 60,000 empty houses in Detroit now. The population has dropped from near 2,000,000 to around 600,000 Detroit is a PERFECT example of progressive leadership.....well the lack thereof...

Yes, they are....and they're beginning to leave. In another ten years they will really begin moving out. In 209 years CA. will be the biggest bankruptcy ever and will probably precipitate a depression.
