Tom Brady the G.O.A.T

The greatest athlete ever.
Even some of the greatests of all time don't compare to him.
A legend above all of them.

Tom Brady solidifies himself as one of the best athletes in history
Sorry. If Brady played in Bart Starr’s era ( Starr won five in only seven years) his career would have been over before he won his third. Starr played when pro football was a contact sport for QB’s.
I ran into Bart at the Milwaukee airport and he signed my daughter's football
I imagine that it is worth a chump of change by now

That’s cool! A true legend. He made Lombardi into the trophy. Brady helped his teams win several trophies Bart Starr was responsible for.

Greatest QB of all time, but it's hard to call someone who was the last player picked in the last round as the best athlete. Imho, Brady is the best quarterback of all time in spite of not being the best athlete at that position. It's like that old adage about pornography: hard to define but you know it when you see it.

He was the 199th pick in a draft where 257 were picked.

certainly put MJ in the rear view mirror. Can he catch Bill Russell's. Which would be absolutely amazing
Russell won repeatedly at every level without rules that left him unhindered.

He is the GOAT in football, definitely not the greatest athlete of all time. What other professional sport would he excel in?

I have no dog in this race, but who would you consider the greatest athlete of all time? Obviously, one who dominated in more than one professional sport, right?
Jim Thorpe

Thorpe grew up in the Sac and Fox Nation in Oklahoma, and attended Carlisle Indian Industrial School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where he was a two-time All-American for the school's football team under coach Pop Warner. After his Olympic success in 1912, which included a record score in the decathlon, he added a victory in the All-Around Championship of the Amateur Athletic Union. In 1913, Thorpe signed with the New York Giants, and he played six seasons in Major League Baseball between 1913 and 1919. Thorpe joined the Canton Bulldogs American football team in 1915, helping them win three professional championships; he later played for six teams in the National Football League (NFL). He played as part of several all-American Indian teams throughout his career, and barnstormed as a professional basketball player with a team composed entirely of American Indians.
From 1920 to 1921, Thorpe was nominally the first president of the American Professional Football Association (APFA), which became the NFL in 1922. He played professional sports until age 41, the end of his sports career coinciding with the start of the Great Depression.

Black folks were not allowed to participate during that era, so I have to put an asterisk next to him.

Natives had a rough time as well...but yeah...if you care to look at it from a racial viewpoint--sure. I guess the closest modern equiv. would be those athletes that have won gold medals and excelled in two or more professional sports.

Bo Jackson did qualify for the American Olympic track and field team....did not compete...his football and baseball stats are gold though. Would he have survived in early 20th century football and baseball? As fragile as he proved?

Russell doesn’t have seven. He has eleven! In thirteen seasons!
Along with two NCAA championships and two high school championships.

His contribution for those wins wasnt the same as the contribution of an NFL quarterback.

No need to, we dominate 2 out of the 3.

The GOAT in football. After this past Super Bowl he is one of the greatest athletes in all sports.
He’s good at seven-on-seven.

That argument doesn't fly. He plays by the rules of his time period. If it's so easy now as you imply then why is he the only QB since Troy Aikman in the early 90's that has won more than 2 Super Bowls? Brady not only won more than 2, he won 7. Even 1st ballot Hall Of Famers Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees only won 1 Super Bowl so far. Peyton Manning won 2. Tom Brady has far outplayed all his peers in his time period. The rule changes are irrelevant. Brady was the football GOAT before the Super Bowl, but moving to a losing organization that hasn't made the playoff since 2007 and winning a Super Bowl by crushing KC put him in the conversation outside of football as one of the greatest athletes along with MJ, Phelps, Ali, Ruth, Gretzky, etc just as the OP's article states.

Talk to his OL coaches. Ask his defensive coordinators. That game I saw last Sunday was won by the TB secondary. Ask his GM’s.
