Trump campaign turning MAGA rallies into slick, locally targeted TV ads

Why not, specifically?
Not just the Pres's rallies--it's CDC suggestions:

Community-level nonpharmaceutical intervention might include school dismissals and social distancing in other settings (e.g., postponement or cancellation of mass gatherings and telework and remote-meeting options in workplaces). These measures can be disruptive and might have societal and economic impact on individual persons and communities (6). However, studies have shown that early layered implementation of these interventions can reduce the community spread and impact of infectious pathogens such as pandemic influenza...These measures might be critical to avert widespread COVID-19 transmission in U.S. communities
Update: Public Health Response to the Coronavirus Disease 2019 ...

It seems to me that there is plenty of time before the election and since the Pres has no one running against him in the primaries, and he has the bully pulpit anyway, mass gatherings such as these rallies seem very much optional at this point.
What does the word "might' mean to you?
Kinda close to "suggestions," which is what I said, if you'll notice. You'll be one of those bad asses that refuses to comply with any attempts to restrict the spread of the virus because it interferes with your rights? Just wondering,

You never had any problems whatsoever with Trump rallies prior to the virus?
Nope. I have a contraption called a REMOTE which allows me to not watch them.

I am speaking of them being held. Of course I don’t think there is your home holding you down and making you watch Trump rallies any more than there is someone in my head use making me watch CNN.

You are exhausting.

Did you have a problem with Trump rallies being HELD prior to the virus?

He shouldn't be holding those rallies.

so, you make a pretty fair point

my 17 year old daughter is having a tantrum because her friend's mom & I have shut down their plans to go to a concert in Atlanta this weekend...
having said that, I absolutely think this virus and the danger of it are being WAY overblown

(fwiw - I did not want to let her go anyway, so I am OK with the excuse, which came from the other parent -- side note; last year when my daughter 1st got her car, she wanted to go to the Galleria Mall here in Bham on Black Friday & I said NO; turns out there was a shooting at the mall that night)
Well, being one of those at risk, I am feeling a little more like an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Good move on your part with your daughter, btw.

NO! How many times do I have to answer that?

That’s a first.

So if his rallies are under 25,000 now, you are ok with that?

I'm still waiting for a link to where the CDC says 25,000 is okay. That sounds stupid to me. No, I'm not okay with that. Or any other totally optional mass gathering. So 25,000 being exposed as opposed to 100,000 is okay?
I'm not arguing with you, I just don't understand the sense in that.

It’s how the CDC defines mass gatherings.

What happens when I produce a suitable link? Will it move this discussion forward?

Miami's Ultra Music Festival, Calle Ocho, Cancelled Due To Coronavirus Fears

“As COVID-19 coronavirus cases continue to rise, public gatherings can pose a risk by increasing person to person contact, often putting groups in close proximity to one another. We are obtaining this guidance from the CDC which defines mass gatherings as those with 25,000 people or more. With this in mind we have decided to take a pointed preventative action in the best interest of our resident’s health and well being,” said Suarez.

the corrupt and dishonest American media is actually helping Trump

Trump absolutely understands how to reach people, and more importantly, how to connect with them

what the don't realize, is that their efforts to create a panic over a virus that is a little more dangerous than the flu is WILL backfire

Trump campaign turning MAGA rallies into slick, locally targeted TV ads

While President Donald Trump delivered a fiery speech at his South Carolina rally Friday night, blasting Democrats and defending his administration’s coronavirus response, his campaign was working to turn the event into a slick, locally focused TV ad that will soon run in the area.

It’s part of the re-election team’s new strategy to flip the president’s sprawling campaign rallies into locally centered TV ads that air days after his road show has left town. The strategy is geared toward further extending the reach and media attention that Trump rallies already generate.

The campaign has produced and run six-figure ad buys after rallies in New Hampshire, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado -- with plans to roll run another local ad highlighting Trump's North Charleston rally, a senior Trump campaign official told ABC News. The president tweeted out a version of the South Carolina ad but the campaign hasn’t announced its placement or a buy yet.

You didn’t say because of Coronavirus initially.

The CDC said no more than 25,000.

If he caps his rallies at 25,000 he is fine, right?

Why aren’t you complaining about NBA games?
I AM concerned and where did you hear 25,000? Shit, I wouldn't go to a concert of 200 if it was in an infected zone.
Would you consider a nursing home?

Calle Ocho isn’t a sanctioned city event. It’s just a grassroots thing. You can’t cancel 8th Street.

If you offered free doses of Corona Virus most Democrats would line up for it.

Virus.

Not vaccine.

But for free vaccine?

Yeah.

Figure out the common word in that?

What has being a "sanctioned city event" got to do with it? You can tell people to stay home. No vendors, no bands, no nuttin. People won't stay long.
