The Don is attempting to replace the disparate employee base that makes up the thousands of civil servants hired on during both Repub and Dem admin's. An inherent diversity making it impossible for them to be bound by any one political ideology. Which he sees as a problem for him and his autocratic goals.
So he seeks to make them what they are not. A monolithic, like minded, unquestioning cohort of workers he can control without any resistance. The object being complete control of government on all levels.

Actually it is much simpler than that.
We can't afford the bloated Federal government.
If DOGE can identify $2T in cost savings, and congress acts on it, those savings will help us get closer to a Balanced Budget to start paying down the $35T National Debt.

We've been here before in 1982 with the Grace Commission that would have paid off the National Debt at that time, but Congress ignored their recommendations.
