This makes it the 6th longest shutdown in history. The longest is 21 days of Newt Gingrich's shutdown. In 1996, Clinton won re-election in a landslide.

The Harvard-Harris poll has more bad news for Trump. They asked a question that was borderline push polling SHUTDOWN1210 The House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution that had $5 billion of boarder wall and security but the Democrats in the Senate blocked it, saying they will not fund the barrier the president wants, triggering the partial shutdown. Do you think that the Democrats should fund the $5 billion for the border security or not?but could not get a majority to support building a wall.

Democrats should fund 45%
Should not fund 55%

SHUTDOWN1211 Do you think Donald Trump should give in and withdraw his demand for 5 billion for the border security?
Trump should give in 58%
Should not give in 42%

2020 is not good news either.

Clinton and Trump's numbers are essentially the same. Obama's favorability started going up when Trump and Clinton received their respective party's nomination. Until then Obama was essentially a 50-50 President.

Yup, good thing we aren't running a popularity contest. Otherwise you clowns would want a Kardashian in the white house.

So you're of the opinion that national security decisions should be made based on polls of people who don't know the facts? That's funny.

No, not Kardashian, as they claim to be libertarians.

I would hold the Democrats in complete stasis until they agree to deal with national security at least as fervently as they do their nonsensical social issues.

They are the cause. Give them nothing until they grow up.

Yet my life has not changed in any way due to the shutdown. I kind of doubt the life of anyone who post on here has been impacted by it.
Me, either.

But I am happy Trump was not able to spend any tax dollars to go golfing yet again.

We are? What ever happened to "Hillary got more votes"?
