U.S. Signals Iraq's Maliki Should Go: The White House Is Convinced the Shiite Leader Is Unable to Reconcile With the Nation's Sunni Minority and Stabilize a Volatile Political Landscape.

WASHINGTON—The Obama administration is signaling that it wants a new government in Iraq without Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, convinced the Shiite leader is unable to reconcile with the nation's Sunni minority and stabilize a volatile political landscape.

The U.S. administration is indicating it wants Iraq's political parties to form a new government without Mr. Maliki as he tries to assemble a ruling coalition following elections this past April, U.S. officials say.

Such a new government, U.S., officials say, would include the country's Sunni and Kurdish communities and could help to stem Sunni support for the al Qaeda offshoot, the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, or ISIS, that has seized control of Iraqi cities over the past two weeks. That, the officials argue, would help to unify the country and reverse its slide into sectarian division.

I totally agree. Here's what Fareed Zakaria says about Maliki: "The prime minister and his ruling party have behaved like thugs, excluding the Sunnis from power, using the army, police forces and militias to terrorize their opponents." Fareed Zakaria: Who lost Iraq? The Iraqis did, with an assist from George W. Bush - The Washington Post

And will the Iraqi's listen to obama, not a chance. Maliki is supported by the Iranians and they have their claws in Iraq now. There is nothing left for obama to do but to withdraw all Americans out of the country before we get tangled up in another embassy fiasco.

Oh yeah, those guys are big fans of us sticking our nose into their business...they're not interested in our motives/intentions, they just want us to butt out.

Just because Obama loves negotiating with terrorists doesn't mean that the Iraqi government will.

This is not about a "disenfranchisement of Sunnis". ISIS is now the toughest terrorist group on the planet. And loaded with big bucks that they seized from banks in Mosul. They make AQ look like Girl Scouts selling cookies.

Zakaria can go fuck himself. And so can the President. ISIS is a terrorist organization funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar. They've been very busy beheading their way to Baghdad from Syria.

I hope between Syria, Iraq and Iran they can wipe these evil assholes off the face of the earth.

If Obama wants to play footsies with terrorists he's welcome to. Why he can even just let every Taliban member go from GITMO too just so he can set Afghanistan on fire.

That does seem to be his intent. The ME is now a powder keg big time because of Obama.

He drew the line in the sand in Syria---it was crossed and he did nothing. What did message did that send to everyone ?

This makes very good sense to me.

If you're a Shi'a' Muslim in a bad way, who can you count on to save your ass?

Shi'a Iran or Barak Obama?

And what American, if they somehow just had to be in Iraq now, doesn't want to get the Hell out immediately?

The only deal that seems to be left for this ole horse trader of a President we have is to, secretly of course, agree to let Iran have a nuclear bomb, in exchange for letting us sidle up with them, partner up, to save Iraq.

I'm going to be praying for the folks in New York City---the ones with the Bulls-eye on their back.

For the uninformed, Iraq recently held elections. The following is from the OP link:

Mr. Maliki's State of Law Party won a plurality of seats, 94 out of 350, in Iraq's parliamentary elections. The country is waiting for Iraq's Supreme Court to ratify the results, after which the parliamentary speaker will call on the leadership of Mr. Maliki's party to form a new government.

This new government needs to be much more inclusive - preferably without Maliki.

What happened to your dear leaders insistence that you don't interfere with a duly elected government? Was that just another statement of convenience?

Well the uninformed is the far left who supports Obama without question or hesitation.
