US special envoy, Donald Booth has been without real diplomatic duties for months after he has failed to get entry visa to land in Sudan. For face saving, the il fated envoy travelled to Addis Ababa to attend the negotiations between Sudan and Sudan Liberation Movement-North.

The unlucky Booth has witnessed the collapse of the talks sponsored by the African Union High Implementation Pannel.

Courteously, he told the press that United States encouraged the government and rebel Sudan Liberation Movement/North (SLM-N) negotiators to reach an agreement during the recent round of talks in Addis Ababa.

He added the two sides are keen to achieve peace and pointed to the need for holding negotiations on humanitarian, political and security issues simultaneously, saying this would save time and shorten duration of suffering for the people in South Kordofan and Blue Nile.

The US official further expressed satisfaction with the resumption of negotiations within 10 days but refrained from commenting on the proposal which the chair of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP), Thabo Mbeki, has handed over to the warring parties.

Franlkly speaking, Booth has left to Addis Ababa mainly to obstruct the talks and prioritise the humanitarian truce to pave the way for the scrambling foreign humanitarian organisations.

Washington is not concerned with political and political issues. Its tactical goal is get entry visa for its envoy to enter Sudan within the pretext of monotoring humanitarian assistance.

Booth is following suit the role played by his predecessor, Robert Zolik, the first US special envoy to Sudan and the architect of Naivasha deal (2005) which led to the secession of South Sudan. The same way, Booth is seeking to divide the country into five states according to the American and Israeli strategy.

The Sudanese government will face tough talks with SLM-N. The government, therefore, has to involve the real stakeholders and the people of the two areas not to avoid the looming threats but also the avoid the coming Naivasha.
