Tyrannical Virginia Gun Law Kept DC Shooter From Buying AR-15

"Aaron Alexis, who was unable to purchase the AR-15 he wanted last week because Virginia law “prohibits the sale of such weapons to out-of-state buyers.” Instead, he bought “a law-enforcement-style shotgun — an 870 Remington pump-action” — which he used in his deadly rampage Monday.

"It’s probably worth noting that Alexis had to pump the shotgun each time he fired, and that the Remington has a standard seven-round magazine. An AR-15, on the other hand, fires a round with each pull of the trigger, with a rate of fire much faster than a shotgun’s, and typical magazines hold 20 to 30 rounds, although higher-capacity magazines — 60 to 100 rounds — are also popular. In the Newtown massacre, Adam Lanza managed to fire 155 rounds in under five minutes.

But, of course, NRA teaches us that laws like this don't work, and that free access to guns saves lives....

This is what the gun nuts can't understand...

They are quick to point out the largely laughable and false premise that "Guns prevent crime" supposedly thousands of time an hour.

Yet when you point out that existing gun laws do prevent additional tragedies...it's "you can't prove a negative"...

Let me get this straight. You two are claiming that this murder spree is proof that gun control laws work.

Had the "victims" been armed in this situation, they would have been able to defend themselves. Turning a group of people into a shooting gallery for whacked out insane murders is not gun control. It's typical libtard stupidity.

As normal the fascists are happy people died so they can force more fascism on us.... All this tragedy shows is liberals are unstable

Being a well regulated militia, Aaron's Constitutional rights were infringed.

Of course! It is always a good idea for when someone pulls the fire alarm, and the entire population of a building runs for the halls and starirwells at the same time for everyone to start shotting at everyone else that is pointing a gun!

Pitiful. People like you embolden our enemies.

Another fruitloop that should never had access to any gun kills a bunch of people. But the NRA gaurenteed his access to guns. Had there been an adaquete waiting period, at least a week, and a full background check, his mental and criminal record would have been adaquete reason to deny him any kind of firearm at all.

No, we need Federal gun laws, that way fruitloops in one state cannot sell military grade weapons to people from other states, and circumvent sane gun control.

Really? Seems to me that people like you are going to get us some really draconian gun laws when the next couple of fruitloops that you arm commit particulay grievious massacres.

Every person on this board who has ever claimed that 'shall not be infringed' means that such a denial of purchase violated the 2nd amendment

did in fact want this person to have gotten that AR15.

It is, btw, a reasonable speculation that the death toll could have easily been double or triple what was had he gone in with that rifle.

5 minutes is 300 seconds, You can 155 rounds from a 11 round mag handgun that quickly. Plus ammo capacity didnt matter in newotwn because no one else was armed. he could have clubbed those people to death with the AR-15.

Here no hi-cap mag was used, yet you still catterwall about them being evil. This is why people who defend freedom dont trust gun grabbers, you lie all the fucking time.

Don't underestimate the lethal potential of a pump shotgun loaded with #00 buckshot in the hands of an experienced shooter. In close quarters it is impossible to miss with a shotgun, even without aiming at all. But every shot from a semi-auto rifle is a toss-up unless carefully aimed.

But, of course, NRA teaches us that laws like this don't work, and that free access to guns saves lives....
Gun control laws disarm the average citizen, a condition which operates to the advantage of a mass shooter. Maybe it's time to consider the opposite approach to public safety where guns are concerned.

Disarmed citizens are like de-clawed cats.

Yes...well, no. See he didn't have a felony record, a conviction involving domestic violence, or was adjudicated as mentally ill. There would have been no legal reason to deny him a gun, period.

[The NRA holds to its position that gun laws are the responsibility of the individual states.

lol, that's a new one. So the NRA supported Chicago's desire to ban handguns? The NRA supported Colorado's STATE gun laws?

You're daft.

What we want is if a person is determined to be a mental threat, a process is availible to deny him, and only him, of his rights to own firearms. It would require a court to decide the person is a danger, and that the accused be able to face his accusers.

What is the use of laws if the cops and other authorities refuse to do their jobs? This nut called police 6 weeks ago and told them he was hearing voices. He should have been taken right to a mental hospital. Also the cops reported this to the Navy. Yet they didn't do anything about it.
We can thank the libs for him not being taken to a mental hospital. As for the Navy?

I didn't arm, hire, or enable this bi-polar libtard to do a single thing. You got any other dumb ass lies you want to make up ass hole?
