We're swimming in oil

You do know that Gas and Oil are not the same thing right. Oil must be refined into Gas, as long as we refuse to build any new Refineries Gas will continue to climb.

Who refuses to build them?

Oil mergers and such have closed several of them.
why would oil companies want to build more if it would make their products cheaper?

Try and get the Permits to build a new one bud. Just see what the EPA has to say about it.

What happened to those Bush said would be built on abandoned govt property?

No Idea, but why dwell in the past? I try in live in today, where Obama has been president for over 4 years and gas is twice what it was when he took office.

The lie persist's that Obama is bad for the oil business, that's he's making us even more dependent upon foreign oil etc, etc, etc. The lies never stop.

But, the truth is that we're swimming in oil and producing more every day. In the first 11 months of 2012, we met 84% of our own energy needs and crude oil production showed it's biggest annual jump in 154 years.

"....The jump in fuel sales to overseas buyers, combined with purchases of the fewest barrels of imported crude in almost 16 years, led to the smallest petroleum deficit since August 2009, the trade data showed..."

A surge in U.S. oil production has made the nation the world’s largest fuel exporter. Petroleum-product exports to Brazil grew by 59 percent in the first 11 months of 2012, to 255,000 barrels a day, according to data from the Energy Information Administration. Venezuelan imports from the U.S. rose 56 percent.

The U.S. met 84 percent of its own energy needs in the first 10 months of 2012, on track to be the highest annual rate since 1991, according to data from the EIA, the statistical arm of the Energy Department. The country’s crude output grew by a record 766,000 barrels a day last year to the highest level in 15 years, the biggest annual jump since the first commercial well was drilled in Pennsylvania in 1859..."

Great news ,can't wait for $1.00 a gallon gas . Oh wait gas is now climbing out of control again. You brainwashed Koolaid drinking Clown....:eusa_liar::eusa_liar::eusa_liar:

If you're wondering what happened to cheap U.S. fuel, look to Mexico, Canada and even OPEC member Venezuela.

U.S. refiners are selling diesel and gasoline to those and other countries at historically high levels, making the nation a net exporter of fuel for the first time since 1949, according to the Energy Department.

So we are exporting gasoline and diesel, but we need more refineries. ????????????

Well if that's the case then why the hell is obama and his administration standing in the way of drilling??? His goal is to drive up the cost of energy as much as he possibly can....he hired someone to do that for him, in fact. He's been successful so far....gas prices are close to $4/gal.....if we are so "rich" in oil, then he should not prevent us from drilling for it but rather encourage it. The middle class is being crucified by his energy policies.

If we are exporting that much in oil, then there is absolutely no reason why the obama administration is raising gas prices to astronomic levels. Don't bother blaming OPEC....the prez has a HUGE amount of control over the gas prices. Gas prices fall or raise during holidays, etc...and then they drop when the peak travel season is over. Dem or repub.....it doesn't matter. Quit propping obama up over energy prices...

And yet the national average is currently $3.30 a gallon and most experts and I use the term experts lightly expect gas prices to get close to $ 4.00 a gallon by spring and summer.

In any given month, there are on average 200,000 barrels of gasoline in inventories scattered around the U.S.

Weekly U.S. Ending Stocks of Total Gasoline (Thousand Barrels)

Every one of those gallons of gasoline potentially would sell for the same price at the pump today. Tomorrow, next month, or next year... whatever is the price at the pump is the potential price of every one of those gallons of gasoline residing in inventory. (200,000 barrels of gasoline = 8,400,000 gallons).

It is of no use to put more gallons of gasoline onto the market for obvious reasons.

Right now crude prices are high. Refineries are shifting to blending summer fuels so they are making less of the winter blends. Refineries are also slowed down for scheduled seasonal maintenance.

There is a premium being paid for refined products overseas. Mostly for heavier fuels like diesel, heating oil, bunker fuel, etc. Industry is taking advantage of these markets and bless them for doing so. More dollars coming into this country. Why do you think there's been recent improvements in the trade deficit?

Someone mentioned $1 gasoline. Don't you remember 1999 when oil hit $10/barrel and gasoline was $1/gallon? That $1 actually equated to 60 cents before taxes. Thousands of oil producers and service companies went bankrupt, tens of thousands of industry workers lost their jobs, domestic production fell and imports rose.

Is this the picture you want to see today, or do you want an industry that now employs over 9 million workers and adds a significant percentage to our GDP?

That is awesome! How did Obama contribute to this wonderful success story?

Question: When he gets blamed for everything perceived by the right as "wrong" in relation to oil, why should he not get the credit for the good?

What HUGE amount of control does a President have over pump prices? What, exactly, has Obama done to cause gasoline prices to be this high?
