Three things:

1) Trump has committed no impeachable offense.

2) The Republican Party knows that if they were to vote to remove Trump, they're as finished as the Democrats.

3) This situation is about to reverse on the Democrats.

Who can predict how the public will react after hearing and learning all the facts that come out during an impeachment? If impeachment is successful, everything will hinge on how the Senate Republicans react. The Senate reaction will depend on how the public reacts. The question of conviction or acquittal in the Senate will depend on whether enough Republican Senators believe a vote for acquittal will be a viable serious impediment in their next election. If polling in their state indicates overwhelming support one way or another, that is how they will vote. That is why Pelosi and a number of Dem's in the House are delaying an impeachment vote. They are waiting for the overwhelming support from the public to appear.
