Up until today, he was talking about 1.3 Trillion without specifics beyond more UI. Now he's at 500Billion.

I'm not saying Pelosi's 2 trillion, down from 3, is great, but ….. Meadows seems to be negotiating with himself and maybe McConnell.

Does he understand how legislating works?

What's in the House Bill? I've not seen what is in it anywhere. Is this another "we have to vote for it before we know what's in it"?

This is easy. It's the waiting game. Whoever looks like they are going to get the lion share of the blame in the polls for the stalled talks will blink first and be forced to negotiate.
The House passed their bill. It's still sitting on McConnell's desk. They had a compromise for 2 trillion. But the White House and the (now) deficit hawks in the Senate wouldn't sign on to it.
The White House is hoping Democrats will get the larger share of the blame. So far, that isn't happening.

Yep, Meadows is a libertarian, same as tramp. Two peas in a pod and there are a lot of peas in that pod.

Tramp said on TV bragging about the stock market, we will find a tax break next year. Go figure, the wealthy don't want to pay any taxes, but the peons have to.

Only a little more than half of Americans own stock. Tramp doesn't realize that the ones that don't make up a good percentage of his "base".

Trump is down to his last strike. Meadows is the one who refuses to negotiate. Meadows and other right wing radicals can't win in contests that have larger turnouts.

Trump and meadows are in a stronger position

they are offering money for the voters

pelosi wants bailout money for incompetent democrat mayors and governors

I certainty don't agree with incompetent's dem mayors and gov.

Yet I agree with you tramp and Meadows are in a stronger position and they want votes.

This link makes it clearer. Meadows is actually negotiating with the Senate Republicans who would not vote for the 1 trill Munchkin floated before.

Basically, the WH is just looking for ANYTHING they can pass in the Senate.

I'm not sure anyone is in a "stronger" position. Pelosi already passed $600 a month in UI compared to the gop's reach for $300. And looming is a potential govt shutdown. Pelosi's played this game with Trump before and won …. right before the 16 elections. Will Trump be willing to shut down the govt if Pelosi passes fuding for all govt operations with a $600 per month and state aid (which some places like OHIO want)? I suspect Meadows is just jockeying for starting point in negotiations. But since he hit the table with his hands and got up and walked away (LITERALLY) from Pelosi before, I'm not sure how much Pelosi figures she has to give past 2.2 trillion without him emasculating himself. She may just go back to demanding 2 trillion for a deal, or a compromise figure actually higher that the 1 till the gop floated before Meadows slapped the table. What does she have to lose? Trump cut benefits from $600 extra to zero. Then he said he'd go $300 with and Exec Order, and it turns out he can't do even that.

Biden can TRUTHFULLY run on we want $600 a month and passed that, but Trump said No.

Ron DeSantis has said he needs federal help. Is he incompetent? Red states have fiscal problems as well. Even some Republican Senators agree that the states need help.

Trump and Meadows' positions are getting weaker by the day. They are offering major layoffs and higher taxes to voters.

All it took for me to find that information was seconds. I just went to Bing search and typed in text of what is in the Heroes Act. Then hit enter. Over 158 million sites came up to that search.

I found the bill on the US Congress website.

It's really not that hard to do if you really want the information.

Here you go, I'll spoon-feed it to you:

That's the old bill. The one with tax breaks for NY millionaires. I want to know if that's still in the current proposal.

Pelosi certainly doesn't. She is demanding $3T for socialist spending. We're better off spending none of it.

That while she keeps the unemployed from getting anything to put pressure on Trump because he cares more about them than she does

Trump does not care about anyone but himself.

That $3 T for the most part makes sense. It does several things.

It attempts to replace tax revenues that have been lost by state and local governments. States run by both Republicans and Democrats are facing major budget cuts. These cuts will reverberate through the economy and increase the unemployment rate.

Also it provides money for workers who are on the front lines of fighting the coronavirus.

It provides money for schools and money to be used in the conduct of elections.

It also provides relief for people who have student loans who have not not received any help.

The lib demand that no one return to work till the chinese disease goes away is what is killing the economy

each trillion of helicopter money they steal from our children will doom our grandchildren to a lower standard of living

liberals are rolling the dice and risking losing it all for the sake of a little temporary comfort

The desire to keep people safe is driving unemployment. Clearly the Republican plan would drive up unemployment and create a worst recession or even a depression. They clearly are clueless on the economy. We might not need another stimulus bill if Trump had a strong response and had a national shutdown in April or May. Nations that did this are able to somewhat re-open.

That was an ok excuse in the beginning

looking back, one stuffy old academic in england was predicting millions of deaths in the US alone if we didnt commit economic suicide

but that was months ago and we have since learned that the virus is nowhere near as deadly

Now its time to reopen the country and TRY to avoid a depression

Does that include the new FBI HQ and White House renovations?
