Merrick Garland waited 293 days.

His nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, which sat gathering dust in the Senate for that long, expired at noon Tuesday — just as the 115th Congress was sworn in on the first day of its legislative session.

History will record this poorly for Republican obstruction in fulfilling Constitutional obligations.

History will record that the nation dodged a bullet by avoiding the appointment of a left-wing extremist to the Supreme Court which would have tilted the court to a leftist majority that would have taken very little time in abolishing the First and Second Amendments.

“This has never happened before in the history of the United States. Never. Durbin said never, yes he said never,” he continued. “And [McConnell] did it gleefully. McConnell announced the day after the election, ‘I won! We kept the vacancy open and now President Trump gets to fill it.’ Do we remember? Sure.”

Democrats have every right to be bitter.
Liberals are always bitter, even when your guy is in charge, even when you're winning. You are hateful, bitter, angry, unhappy people and I pity you.

We seen how much damage your people have done to this country in just two years. You want us to surrender the SC to a liberal majority????

Why hold a hearing if his nomination expired? Of course, if Hillary had won, she could have nominated Obama to fill the seat.

It's not a bone. It's a reminder of how dirty they played. It's a reminder of how they don't abide by customs and rules. It should never be swept under the rug. What goes around comes around...

Is that the same customs and rules that were advocated by the Democrats when Bush was President? Or was that the same customs and rules that the Democratic Legislature in Massachusetts threw out the window when Ted Kennedy died and they quickly acted to prevent the Republican Governor from naming the successor to complete the unfinished term in the Senate? Which Customs and Rules are you babbling about anyway?

They don't care and they'll revel in it. They are not good people.

How about never? What would you have thought if the Republicans move had backfired and Hillary was elected instead?

You wouldn't have minded that so much.

Can Demcrats block Trump nominees for four years?

Why not?

They can try, but Trump is the kind of person to remind voters who did the blocking when 2018 comes around. A lot of Senators for reelection might want to think about that, especially those in states won by Trump.
