With the way things are America is going to look like a third world wasteland. Look at Flint, Michigan. In the future America people fight for three factions.
Side 1- A Republican/GOP type Party, war mongers, corporatists, far right religious fundamentalists, private military companies, prison industrial complex. Access to a 21st Century style conventional military force. And to spice things up they use their prison industrial complex to prey on the unfortunate.
Side 2- Intellectuals, Technologists, Utopians, Individualists, liberals/hippies. Access to the knowledge and power of Silicon Valley. Have a small but very high tech military force. Their agenda is to give humanity a peaceful high tech utopia.
Side 3- Survivalists, constitutionalists, libertarian leave me alone types. Militia type force.
