First.....this is politics, not religion, because the answer to the query applies to the former.

The backstory:
"Former Vice President Joe Biden attended services at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in the city of Florence on Sunday and was reportedly denied communion by the priest. Father Robert Morey cited Biden’s support for legal abortion as the reason for the denial."
Biden reportedly denied communion in South Carolina

Biden went to the church, whose position on abortion is well known.
In the interests of his position as priest, and subscribing to his conscience, Father Robert Morey had no choice but to deny the rite.

BUT....the issue does bring a chuckle when one must bet that Biden favored shutting down bakers who choose not to bake a cake that would be an item in a gay marriage/occasion, or penalizing that florist who wouldn't provide the floral arrangement for a similar celebration...and there was a photographer in the same situation.

As a card-carrying Progressive, wouldn't you want that priest arrested, or his church shut down, due to his objections to Liberal orthodoxy?

Bear in mind that Democrat Lyndon Johnson passed a law denying churches tax deductions if they said...SAID...anything the Democrats disapproved of.

To be consistent, shouldn't you Liberals do what you always wanted to, remove any and all rights that don't follow your dictates????

Is this a question of rites or rights (see what I did there?)

Biden should take it personally....just not....personally....
To be fair....Liberals do have their own church, sort of.....

Well.....they do have a religion....sort of.....
From the Amazon review of Godless, by Coulter…

Though liberalism rejects the idea of God and reviles people of faith, it bears all the attributes of a religion. In Godless, Coulter throws open the doors of the Church of Liberalism, showing us its sacraments (abortion), its holy writ (Roe v. Wade), its martyrs (from Soviet spy Alger Hiss to cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal), its clergy (public school teachers), its churches (government schools, where prayer is prohibited but condoms are free), its doctrine of infallibility (as manifest in the "absolute moral authority" of spokesmen from Cindy Sheehan to Max Cleland), and its cosmology (in which mankind is an inconsequential accident).

Then, of course, there's the liberal creation myth: Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.

For liberals, evolution is the touchstone that separates the enlightened from the benighted.
And....Franklin Delano Roosevelt, "...the Socialist Savior of the Democratic Party."

the Catechism: you didn't build that.....any success is just dumb luck

Here's an important word for the discussion: syncretic

It means to put together two things that don't go together:
"Kill a commie for Christ"
or
"Support mental health or I'll kill you"

Or this...also about killing:
"In Pelosi, Strong Catholic Faith and Abortion Rights Coexist

For Representative Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, the issue of abortion rights has always been ancillary to her unwavering faith and deep approbation for generations of popes. “I actually agree with the pope on more issues than many Catholics who agree with him on one issue,” Ms. Pelosi said in an interview in her office at the Capitol last week.

But that one issue, abortion, is adding a thick layer of tension to the otherwise convivial mood as Congress prepares for the arrival of Pope Francis this week. The Capitol is ensnared in an imbroglio over funding for Planned Parenthood and a host of other abortion-related fights..."

I know Democrats lie about everything.....but this one jumps the shark.

Why would anyone bother with religious bullshit anyway? Here's the stick, "my guys are more righteous than your guys so there".

Amazing how truly stupid you are, not even counting the juvenile barnyard vulgarity.

"Why would anyone bother with religious bul***** anyway?"

Yet here you are, 'bothering with same,'.....smashing the custard pie in your own kisser.

And you'll be back.

You can find a church somewhere to preach anything you want. Or, like Mel Gibson, build your own.

"South Carolina Catholic Church Refuses to Allow Joe Biden to Partake In Communion
Biden was not allowed to participate in communion at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Florence, South Carolina on Sunday. Father Robert Morey told the Florence Morning News he denied Biden, a lifelong Catholic, from participating in the Holy Communion because of his stance on abortion."
