Why do people respond to obviously racial bait threads?

Why do people respond to obviously racial bait threads? There are threads that are obviously designed to provoke a back and forth that allows hatred to have a voice. Why do well meaning people feed the beast?

Their feelings get hurt,so they have to retailiate,to get some payback. Their skin is so soft that anybody can just rip it to shreds.

Because people both on the right and the left just absolutely LOVE to be outraged.

And the fact that one can find excuses to act out like a punk on a playground, insulting people to whom few of us would utter a single word in a face-to-face situation?

Well, that's just too good an opportunity for some of us to pass up, isn't it?

Maybe quite a few are not that "well meaning". This is an anonymous forum, where for the most part anything goes. One can express whatever they please in a low risk environment.
