That is not true any more.
While the voter registration process can START with DMV giving you a form to fill out, it is sent on to the voter registration people, who then do the background check for citizenship, always these days.
There were lots of mistakes in the past, but they are catching most of them now.

Last time I checked, a couple years ago when renewing my license, our DMV said all they take is a signed avidavit claiming you are a citizen. Last I knew,our Legislature hadn't changed that.
We also can only vote by mail, or drop boxes. No in person voting or ID checks. Heck they don't even purge the mailing list for those whom moved or died.

You don't need to for a regular driver's license when using a valid one form another state. That's the 'loophole' use by many coming by way of California and other states.

You have 30 days to transfer your license to Washington state. You are required to surrender your license when receiving a washington license. No non-citizen can receive a standard drivers license in any state. without "NON-CITIZEN", or some other identifying notation written on it. Motor Voter only registers qualifying citizens to vote. I don't care what anyone told you.
