An economy is what happens when people are free to engage in commerce. A guy gets good at making something and offers it for sale. If someone is willing to fork over the money a sale is made. And so on. For government to function it needs a piece of the pie but when it acts like the pie came from them and starts micromanaging business for increasingly large shares of the pie people pull back. Commerce slows. You can't make up he difference by taking more and more of a shrinking pie.
