Cause if it was an epidemic in Russia, they would not want to keep that a secret.

If it came from Russia, I would agree. It would not be in theirs or Putin's best interest to keep it a secret if it turns into a mass epidemic there.

It may get that way still. Doubt if there were mass deaths or more than ZERO that they would be able to get away with reporting zero deaths.
